SINGAPORE : Households can expect to pay an average 6.6 per cent more for their electricity in the July-September quarter as tariffs go up.
This will be the third consecutive quarter of tariff increase.
SP Services said higher fuel oil prices have resulted in higher power generation costs.
The average fuel oil price over the last three months has risen by 13.8 per cent from US$88.63 to US$100.84 per barrel.
The new tariff of 27.28 cents a kilowatt-hour will kick in on July 1, up 1.7 cents a kilowatt-hour from the April-June quarter.
The
increase in the average monthly electricity bill for households will
range from S$2.13 for 1-room HDB flats to S$6.71 for 4-room HDB flats.
The industry regulator, Energy Market Authority, has approved the revision.
However,
about 800,000 HDB households can expect to have at least one month of
their utilities bills offset, thanks to U-Save rebates.
The rebates are part of the government's five-year GST Offset Package announced in 2007.
Families living in 1- and 2-room flats could benefit from a four-month offset in their utilities bills.

elections over so prices are up again
Payback time!
time to repent for the next 5 years
price go up then give rebates
很好玩啊.........
Election or no election, it will go up. Until very high, then maybe switch to nuclear power.
Nuclear still go up, election or no election, but not so much.
You want cheap electricity, get your own generator, and a bicycle.
Don't hope for solar energy, because you need a storage medium, i.e a rechargeable battery. The panels absorb the sun's energy and store it in the batteries. How big can your batteries be to hold sufficient energy?
really 5 years to repent this time...
when fuel price reduce, they diam diam... when fuel price increase, they come out to talk... really ni nia mah eh!
All of you first day living in Sg?

Yes ma'am.
They always base their electricity charges on crude oil prices, but I can't see any correlation between crude oil price and natural gas price.
Can you?
Superimpose the 2 graphs.
Do they fit to a T?

Your salary must be seen to be increasing, so that they can increase tariffs.
