HE HAD sex with a 14-year-old runaway in his shop in 2009 and was jailed 15 months on June 15 by a district court. Yazit Yahya, 40, who pleaded guilty, is appealing against the sentence.
According to the judgement issued on Wednesday by District Judge Lee Poh Choo, the victim ran away from home with her girl friend on April 26, 2009. They went to Yazit's tattoo shop called 'Thugster and Body Piercing' in the Golden Mile Complex along Beach Road. Two days later, he persuaded her to have sex with him although he was aware she was not 16 yet. He only stopped when she said it hurt too much.
Pleading for a lenient sentence, Yazit said he was a divorcee with two daughters aged 12 and 13, who were not in his custody. He was also planning to remarry in November.
To this, Judge Lee said that it was despicable that Yazit took advantage of a naive, misguided young girl who was not much older than his own daughters.
