Police probe racist remarks in online forum

AT LEAST two police reports have been filed against a Chinese national in Singapore for allegedly posting derogatory remarks in an online forum about a Malay man with whom he had fought.
Although he claimed initially that he hit the other man, the author of the posts has since apologised for his remarks and claimed that he had exaggerated what happened between them.
He used derogatory terms in referring to the Malay in his original post last Thursday in the Chinese-language forum Discussions in the Lion City.
His seven-sentence post in the forum for new citizens touched off a storm of angry reactions from netizens.
It has since been taken down by the 24-year-old author, known only by his online handle Nai He Re Chen Ai, who has also posted several apologies.
But the controversy has already taken a life of its own: Screenshots of the post taken by netizens have been reproduced in other blogs and forums, spreading the vitriol elsewhere.

i think all forums should be close down.Than there won't be people getting caught for stupid offences, the police have less cases to investigate and moderators like fireice won't be able to ban people and get a life instead of everyday stalking people online

yea i know what u mean haha. i played runespace long time ago .. i remember lots of people insulting Asians just because of one korean guy said something weird and those people say all Asians are like that. It really hurts me. Even in youtube in some vid, although im a singaporean chinese.. i kinda feel insulted when those people critisized those china people. =/

Singaporeans are the most ‘disgusting’ and ‘irritating’ lot of people if the result of an online poll is to be taken at face value.
According to a chinese blog (Lion City Life/狮城生活) frequented by PRCs in Singapore, a poll was conducted seeking feedback from its forumers on the most disgusting and irritating people with 8 choices, namely: Singaporean, Philippinoes, Malays, Malaysians, Japanese, Chinese (PRC), Korean and Indians.

result as of today, 1220 hours shows that Singaporeans are the most
‘disgusting’ and ‘irritating’ lot, followed by Philippinoes and Malays
(not Malaysians) with 48.15%, 5.94% and 7.41% of votes garnered
respectively.The poll starter with the moniker “sayangweiwei” had asked in chinese “æ�¥åˆ°æ–°åŠ å�¡ï¼Œå¤§å®¶å¤šå¤šå°‘少都有跟ä¸�å�Œè¿‡å®¶çš„äººæŽ¥è§¦ï¼Œå“ªä¸ªå›½å®¶çš„äººæœ€è®©ä½ ä»¬å��感，讨厌？” which loosely translates to “having been in Singapore, all must have met people from other countries. I am proud to be disgusting. Sporeans should embrace our culture of rudeness and selfishness. That is our culture. We do not seek to emulate others, otherwise there is nothing unique abt us.
The 1st step is to be rude n unhelpful to ang mos. Then claim back our country. Then from the lesson learnt that life is fine without foreugn 'talent', we locals can unite, n show the world that our rudeness is only toward foreigners. Together we can make it work.

You need to observe around, angmos is just one group of people affecting employment , there are still other groups. The PRC chinese, India, Myanmar and philippines groups are growing fast. It is not exactly fair to push 100% blame on them, it is the PAP govt that allow and encourage them here. They went on recruitment trips to India and China to source for locals there to work here. -

They ought to use their loving heart to discern the Singaporean benevolent heart. Otherwise, they are not helping the Singaporean to strengthen its nice loving heart and the surveyors' heart also got tainted. It is not as helpful for world peace haha...before actualizing the behavourial patents of Singaporeans, PRC people ought to ensure that all PRCs are loving kindnessly living in their own countries and as travellers in other countries. This is helpful to decorate the resplendent "face" of their President, government and its people. It also helpful to stimulate the urge of other nationals to learn from them. In this way, if the world cannot be peaceful, it does not make sense..hahaha

Sayangweiwei is as stupid as the poll intself.
She does not know the distinction between ethnic group and nationality.
When she says æ–°åŠ å�¡äºº, it already includes Malays Chinese Indians and anyone who is a Singapore Citizen.
And 馬來西亞人, also includes Malays Chinese Indians and anyone who is a Malaysian Citizen.
She is definitely uninformed. Thus her polls are invalid.

Therein lies the problem of integrating some of these newcomers to Singaporeans and our local cultures and customs among the different races.
