I think it made a lot of business sense for SMRT to just give $5k! They would have known about these charitable causes coming to help.
Due to media hype about donations bla bla bla going to these accident victims? What were they thinking?
see what i mean...no one in spore cares a hoot for each other...the end result is obvious from mrt accidents that shouldnt be happenin to some kinda political group that gives democracy a bad name.
question is what am i from so far away from spore concerned about folks livin in spore?there is a god and he is watching.u ,me and everyone need to explain to him when we eventually meet him.

SINGAPORE: About 680 passengers were affected by train service disruptions after an elderly woman was hit by a south-bound train at Yio Chu Kang MRT Station on Wednesday night.
The SMRT said the incident occurred at about 11.20pm.
The police received a call at about 11.25pm, and upon arrival, found the body of a woman in her 60s, on the train tracks.
She was pronounced dead by paramedics at about 11.50pm.
The police have classified the case as unnatural death and are investigating.
The SMRT said that south-bound train services resumed at about 12.40am.
Free bus-bridging services were deployed to ferry affected passengers from Yishun to Toa Payoh MRT stations, and the SMRT said this continued until the end of passenger service hours.
Circle Line train service also continued for passengers making a connection from the train and bus bridging services.
The SMRT said passengers were kept informed of the service disruption, as well as of the free bus services, at affected stations.
The north-bound train service was not affected.
Passengers who were unable to complete their commute can claim a full fare refund from the Passenger Service Centre at any of the 68 SMRT stations within the next three working days, said the SMRT. - TODAY
Wonder if this'll throw a spanner in the works...
Nope, business as usual.
By the time all glass door were installed, I wonder how many more news of sucide and accident related to MRT are we gonna heard.
God bless people riding MRT.
what a contrast, today in ST business pages, you see Saw, the CEO of SMRT laughing all the way to the bank and yet we have people who jump onto the tracks in desperation. Not referring to the Thai girl but god knows.
Oh? There was a case of the platform being so crowded that someone was pushed on to the tracks.
THE family of the Thai teenager who lost both legs following a horrific accident at the Ang Mo Kio MRT station in April is suing SMRT for $3.4 million.
The writ filed in the High Court here was served yesterday on the transport operator, which confirmed that it had received it.

got 500k donations already still want to sue smrt for $3.4 million?
Greed knows no boundaries

Great! Sue the pants off to this irresponsible and hypocrite company. I hope the family will win the lawsuit and get the money. SMRT can earn millions of dollars but so stingy to pay a victim who was permanently disabled due to their medicore operations. They think they can get away with just SGD5000 only and treat then like they are beggers. If can't successfully sue them in Singapore, sue them in the international court. Let the whole world know.
.....
smrt budget already very tight in providing good, clean, efficent, cheap transport leh. how expect them to give so much leh?

Good, clean and efficient? I seriously doubt so, especially in their bus and cab operations. Not to mention the increasing number of breakdowns on MRT in the recent years. Cheap, maybe because LTA and PTC set the prices, not SBST and SMRT. But SMRT is also very eager to ask for fare increases for the last few years, which luckily PTC had rejected. Tight on budget? They can pay millions to shareholders up there, but do not even want to pay enough to provide decent service standards. They are not tight on budget, they just don't know their priorities.
to me, its still ok

don't shame sg lah. if i were like u, lwj sure can't get into a secondary school now.
Sue SMRT, so good to heard that. SMRT must be responsible for the safety of all commuters. So many cases of people falling onto the track and jumping into the tracks yet they are taking their own sweet time to erect the glass door.
If any company that violate safety issue and identify as dangerous working enviroment, MOM will issue stop work order and had those unsfe practise or unsafe equipment corrected, I wonder why they allow SMRT so long a period to erect those glass door.
For all that happen, I can only said that to SMRT commuters life is only worth $5000/-

SMRT wants to shame Singapore. Paying 5k only for a person who is disabled for life is seriously a big joke and show how stingy and irresponsible Singapore companies can be.
but not smrt fault, alot of transport compies alos don't have barrircades to prevent people from falling in other countries
