SINGAPORE: Commuters were stuck in a jam at the Causeway for over four hours on Saturday.
Since the biometric fingerprint scanning system was introduced by Malaysia on June 1, complaints have surfaced over longer waiting times to clear the checkpoints.
A picture taken from
a traffic camera at the Woodlands Checkpoint showed a long line of cars
waiting to get into Johor Bahru. And the queue stretched all the way up
the BKE on the Singapore side.
Motorists said the situation was made worse by the increase in traffic due to the school holidays.
Daily commuters working here and heading home to Malaysia said their travel time is now much longer.

even if SBST go add 30 more buses today also no use... all will still stuck in jam.. and frankly speaking, the scanning system is a joke.... i have see many times those malaysia cars just show their passport to the immigration officers in their cars and then just proceed already. did not even need to pass the passport to the officers.. i ask my friends and they say that it is normal practise..

Malaysia
better deterrent than the petrol restriction
Jam at the Causeway is a problem that is deliberately not solved.
Its always the same excuse, holiday season, festive season, long weekend, new system, improvement works, again and again like they never learn from the past.?
I don't think so, they purposely want the jam.

Its for Malaysia's tightened security.
The fingerprint process only applies to foreigners. Malaysians exempted from it. Of course Malaysians cars pass through like normal.
And for foreigners, one time fingerprint then after that got record then its OK already.

I can safely bet none of the fingerprints they collected is actually tagged to the corresponding passport or whatsoever, and records of it will eventually be purged out to make way for new ones. So technically, its pointless, and a waste of time. Creating the jam is deliberate.

3 months based on how many prints taken a day? How come some cars carrying 4 people not all prints are taken, and some even random? Why take index finger print? How many records can they match that with? Do biometric passports take the print on your index finger?
is there a jam now?
