FOR sending this threat to an Indonesian maid via SMS on May 17, Mohammed Abul Hossain Aynal Hoque, 30, was jailed two weeks. The previous day, an Indonesian maid was found dead in a water tank in Woodlands and the suspect was a Bangladeshi.
A district court heard on Friday that the complete SMS message read: 'Resty do you know. Yesterday what happen Singapore, 1 bangla kil 1 indo. i can folo that.'
'Resty' referred to Ms Atih Restianingsih, a 26-year-old Indonesian maid. She got to know Hoque in February last year through her aunt, who was also a domestic worker here.
In the first few months, she and the Bangladeshi electrician would talk daily over the phone and she told him her residential telephone number and other personal information. She stopped answering his calls and messages in September as he pestered her for sex.
After several months of being ignored by her, Hoque decided to threaten to kill her. The court heard that on the day he sent his text message, newspapers carried news of the case of the dead maid in the water tank.
