A 17-year-old student in Anhui, China, reportedly sold one of his
kidneys for 20,000 yuan (about S$3,800) only to buy an iPad 2.
STOMPer Applefan thinks that the boy will probably regret it, not only because of the
long term effects on his health, but the fact that the iPad 2 may be
quickly superseded by other products.
According to news reports,
the teenager, named Zheng, said: ""I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could
not afford it." He connected with a broker online who told him that he
could help him get money for his kidney.
On Apr 28, Zheng went to a hospital in a neighbouring city to have his organ taken out, without his parents' knowledge.
When
he returned home, his mother found out and reported to the police
immediately. But they could not locate the broker whose cell phone was
always powered off, reports said.
STOMPer Applefan comments:
"This is madness.
"Your
kidney is for life, but the iPad 2 has only a short shelf life; Apple
or another company would probably put out a better product soon.
"Sure he has money left over after buying the gadget, but this is totally not worth it.
"The best thing is, the broker probably made a lot more money from reselling the kidney, than 20,000 yuan.
"Parents, please watch what your kids do online. They might come home with a missing organ one day."
sigh, this guy dumb,
a kidney can be exchanged with a spacious apartment in new york. (once i read in the news)
he should ask for an apartment, then he later can marry
post edited due to being irrelavant to topic..
So what happens when iPad 3 comes out? He sells his liver?
the china boy spoil market!!!
Tsk... an iPad2 does not have a iKidney apps to replace his kidney...
dumb ass
kid shoulda sold his brain.. it would have been worth a truckload of cash as it has never been used
I'd nominate him for the Darwin Awards, but the rules clearly state that he must end up either sterile or dead in order for him to qualify.
Maybe he'll sell his balls or his brain for the iPad 3.
