NTUC FairPrice is extending its Housebrands Discount Scheme by two months - until July 31.
Launched on Feb 15 this year, it was scheduled to end yesterday but has been continued to assist customers to cope with the rising cost of living.
The supermarket chain said in a statement that the scheme has helped shoppers pocket more than $2.25 million in savings.
With the extension, they can expect to chalk up more than $3.6 million of savings in total, a spokesman noted.
FairPrice has more than 500 housebrand items, including daily necessities such as rice, bread, cooking oil and detergent.
Plus! Visa or NTUC Plus! cardholders get to enjoy a 10 per cent discount on these items while non-cardholders will get a 5 per cent off. There is also a price freeze on all housebrand items which are on average about 10 per cent to 15 per cent cheaper than comparable national brands, said the spokesman.
FairPrice has more than 100 supermarkets and hypermarts islandwide.
