Universal Studios characters and stars mingled with visitors to the official grand opening of Universal Studios Singapore yesterday.
About 280 performers and staff opened the park in the morning with a procession that showcased park attractions, which are adapted from movies such as Shrek and Jurassic Park.
The park, touted as South-east Asia's best, is expected to pull in four million visitors in total this year.
Minster for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, who was guest of honour, called the opening a "significant milestone" for Singapore's tourism landscape.
In his speech at the event, he highlighted how Singapore must maintain its competitive edge in the sector, and the need to develop it to create more job opportunities in future.
