A 10-YEAR-OLD girl suffered second-degree burns on her left cheek and limbs after she apparently fainted and fell on a hot metal sheet.
Tan Huishan, a Primary 4 pupil at Yangzheng Primary School, was crossing Serangoon Avenue 2 to buy chicken rice for lunch on Thursday when the incident occurred. The metal sheet, heated by the afternoon sun, is believed to have been placed there for construction work.
Huishan is currently in intensive care at KK Women's and Children's Hospital. The biggest worry for her father, property agent Tan Thiam Hai, 47, is that she would be scarred for life.
'I haven't shown her any mirror. She's brave. I told her she'll be fine,' he said, adding that doctors do not know yet whether she needs a skin graft.
She went for a test on Friday and will be going for another one next week.
Mr Tan does not know why she fainted and is wondering whether the incident could be like the one five years ago. Then, she had a high fever, fainted and had fits.
