MOMENTS before Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan could knock on the door of a flat in Woodlands, it opened.
The resident, a voter in Sembawang GRC, had technology to thank for her apparent prescience. She had been tracking him in real time on Kampung Sembawang's Facebook page.
A few minutes later, a photograph of her with the minister went live on the constituency's Facebook site.
Mr Khaw, 58, who is gunning for a third term, said on Sunday that the presence of social media made the difference between this and all previous polls.
'How you skilfully integrate new-media campaigning with old-media campaigning - that is key,' he said.
He added that if one were not tech-savvy and lived where people were, one would lose out; in areas with more old folk, not being comfortable with technology was less of a disadvantage.
