SINGAPORE : Community Chest (ComChest), the fund-raising arm of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), wants to raise S$55.7 million in funds for its financial year beginning April.
The amount is barely a 1 per cent increase from the S$55.2 million it raised last year.
The group said it needed the money to fund 158 social service programmes run by 70 charities.
Abandoned
children and those from poor families, as well as troubled youth,
continue to be the group's main beneficiaries, with a funding budget of
S$27.3 million for this year, or 49 per cent of the total allocation.
The
group has set aside S$12.7 million for the disabled, S$10.1 million for
financially distressed homes, and S$5.6 million in aid for the elderly.
It
is also setting up its 38th service centre in Telok Blangah Way as part
of its efforts to make social service more accessible to the needy.

Ask the SAF.... then SAF force the NSFs to donate again?.... -_-"
No need, just pass donation cards to the primary school kids, those who come back with less than 10 $5 donations, don't get recess for a week.

NSFs are worst off.. $5 donation per month for the rest of their lives, unless they opt out of ComChest secretly themselves.
Issit? I dunno leh, last time I no such things.

Its actually not compulsory. But the commanders need to meet the S1's target of everyone donating, so they have to coerce NSFs into donating. -_-"
But you have a way out, donate for one month and then call CommChest to cancel it and also help them fill up a cancellation form. In this case, SAF records show you donated in the nominal roll (which is what they need) for at least once. =)

I really dunno, my time no such thing. I don't even remember signing up giro for that. If it needs to go thru giro, chances are, it ain't compulsory, because giro requires consent.
I never applied giro for any of my billl payments, the only time I used giro was when I was in primary to secondary school.
