How good is Singapore healthcare as compared to Australia?
Singaporean system adopts a system where each person is responsible for his/her own medical bills, leaving folks who have used up their savings and medisave to their own devices. If you don't have the the necessary finances to pay for you medication, most likely you will be given inferior medication which does not cure your illness.
Australian system adopts a higher level of taxation (bear in mind that the wages of Australians are also at least 3 times higher than Singapore, despite the high taxes of Australia, the after tax disposable income is still much higher than Singapore), where no patient is neglect, even if you are penniless, you can still obtain the necessary medical services accorded to you by the government.

The mortality rates for patients above 45 years old (both sexes) is higher for Singapore than Australia, it could be the result of Singapore patients inability to afford medical services. The doctor to 100,000 population in Australia is 247, while in Singapore it's 140. Typically having more doctors in Australia (247) per 100,000 population will result in shorter waiting time, while Singapore's 140 doctors will result in longer waiting time for patients. But in reality it's Australia having a longer waiting time when compared to Singapore.
The longer waiting time could be a result of more patients dying in Singapore, consequentially resulting in less patient numbers for the doctors to attend to, thereby making shorter waiting time for the patients (who are still alive).
So......How good exactly is our Singapore healthcare system???
