SEx by the third date?

I was having a discussion with a co-worker the other day about dating and he swore to me there is an unspoken rule with guys that you have to have sex with them by the third date to keep them interested. If not they will move on to the next thing. He honestly believes ALL guys are like this. I'm not so sure I agree though. I've been off the dating scene so long now I'm not really sure about anything to be honest. lol So I thought I would come here and see if any of you have heard of this unspoken rule and if there's any truth to it at all.
Personally I think if there's chemistry between two people it will just happen when it happens. When both of you are comfortable. There shouldn't be a game about it, or an expectation that someone HAS to be comfortable enough by the third date or risk losing the person. Someone like that to me wouldn't be worth continuing dating anyway. What do you think?

not all guys are like that la. your co-worker sounds so cock sure, making a huge generalization about dating and sex. it's like now the sex is the determining factor in whether the relationship should carry on? this kind of rule sounds like it was taken from the sex bible in american pie.

LOL... I honestly think that Sex is not the answer to relationship.
Speaking from a "not-in-a-marriage-yet" point of view, Sex will not guarantee that your relationship with that partner will last. In fact, Sex will only end the relationship the moment you get into a room with that guy and have sex.
Honestly speaking, Dating is all about getting to know your partner in terms of his character, style, like and dislikes. In short, it's about knowing if that guy is the right one for you. If he is really interested in getting to know you, sex would be the last thing on his mind, especially in the beggining of any love relationship.

Lol lor. Some girls I know will do it on the first date already, while some will preserve until really bf/gf then do lor. I think i prefer the one after become a couple first. So kan chiong for what?
