The Anti-Smoking campaigns in Singapore failed miserably: smokers of all ages are taking up smoking as hobby. Some smokers are as young as Primary School going kids (in uniform) while some are young girls in their 20s. The printed pictures on cigarettes boxes are making smokers LAUGH....they know that those are simulated close-up pictures and very much unreal. It is time that public funds be put into better use than to waste it on the campaign which is going no where.
You think those pics are to discourage people from smoking?
There is a more practical reason why they are printed on those boxes.
Think "Illegal cigarettes".
these one better way to deter
$100 per pack.
yea make it $100 per pack and be prepare to see contrabands lying EVERYWHERE
smoking should be labeled as drugs. then people who smoke are drug addicts. then kena caught then ahahahahaha
the govt makes a huge amount of revenue from cigg tax so their anti smoking campaigns are half hearted, its just there to show that 'they tried'

Actually there is seriously nothing wrong with smoking. it is a choice and risk that smokers take and it is legally legal if you are not underage.
Smoking can cause lung cancer, alcohol can liver cirrhosis, studying, work and NS can cause mental breakdown, sex can cause aids, driving can cause accident .... There are so many things that can happen to you and you can be dead because of it.
The label on the box is only a warning, so that smoker will not sue the tobacco company if they get lung cancer.
The public fund can be put in better use, rare than wasting them on stubborn and stupid people .
Cane those caught smoking...confirm will decrease smoking drastically....lol
It is definitely a flop. I still see many people smoking at the bus-stops and lifts.
Seems the authority places emphasis to stop illegal purchase of cigarettes. Earning lots of tax from cigarettes, so I can understand why the authority goes all the way to track down illegal purchase.
There is no complain from govt that there are still many people smoking in the prohibited areas. I have not heard or seen anyone being fined smoking in the prohibited areas.
Seems that health is not that important compared to money.
i agree with fantagf that the govt is indeed making lots of $$$ with the cig taxes. but at the same time, the fines get them money too. i know lots of ppl who get fined smoking at prohibited areas and littering of the cig butts too.
