Wushu moves are nice to watch, marvel but is it practical to use in for unarm combat?
wushu has san ta, which is another form of unarm combat.

i prefer Krav Maga.. (hoped i spelled it correctly).. i believe it is more effective at taking down ur opponent and making sure he won't be able to recover from ur blows.
Aiya, topics like this had being discussed thousand times.
Back then, when Bruce Lee popular, everybody also "wah jeet kune do the best!!!", now come the krav maga rave, everybody "wah krav maga tian xia wu di instant KO more effective yo yo yo"
Just be very good at whatever you're practising and any form of martial arts can be deadly. As for zhong hua wushu, if it's really that impractical.. also won't be passed down for thousands of years liao leh...
This type of question better to sit down and ponder... Use some google even.. than to post on forum let people think you airhead
i agree..
it's good to list down the reasons for learning a martial art. also good to pick a martial art which is suited for your body size and flexibility.

Traditional Wushu is impractical in real combat and have been pwned upside down by others, including Shaolin monks who trained from young.
It might be good in ancient times where people really fought but modern Wushu is more of a sport and practitioners hardly have much real sparring experience (Yes, they have simulated ones that we see sometimes).
That's the reason why Bruce Lee invented jeet kune do.

Utter nonsense. Traditional wushu is ridiculously effective. However, it is seldom seen today. Most of the "Shaolin monks" who go around aren't even monks, much less from Shaolin.
Modern wushu, however, is pretty much useless. Hua1 quan2 xiu4 tui3.

Frankly, what you said contradict leh. I don't think you've a clear understanding of what's "traditional" and what's "modern". In the 2nd paragraph, you made it sound like people practised modern wushu in ancient times.
The modern style (what you always see in sports, sea games & etc) of wushu focus is on exhibition. There are still practitioners who practise wushu as a martial art, and these are the traditionalists who focus on application.
And those 'simulated sparring' one would always see in modern wushu are forms to display technique and all. Already said modern style focus is on exhibition liao right
The vastness of chinese martial arts extends beyond its kicks and punches leh, brudder..
"That's the reason why Bruce Lee invented JKD"... Haiz.. see substance like this.. also no mood carry on discussion with you..

What to do ? Some people are like that! but they never thought that the average roti prata man could give one tight slap and knock people out due to the daily practice of slapping flour onto the marble table.
Respect all Martial Arts because they all will benefit you in some ways.....and dont say Tai Qi is useless either.
