Anyone who was really involved in a street fight will know that learning TKD, karate, etc wun help much, cos the other party wun play fair.
Anyway, real life incident at geylang in the 90s, heard from a those lao jiao cop friends of mine:
A man encountered 4 ah bengs, who looks like they're going to rob him n beat him up, in some ulu back alley when he was walking home. He calmly pulled out what looks like a rusty metal table leg among the abandoned trash by the side, and walks towards the 4 bengs. The 4 bengs siam to the side, allowing him to walk through unchallenged. Then, once past a corner, the man ran to some police post. hoho!

TKD really tt good meh. i think because of its kicks la. but everytime u kick, u open urself up for attack.
i think krav maga is best, muay thai also like good, but training v harsh. my friend said they can jump up to the height of a bbq pit. tts how strong their leg muscles are.
How about Jeet Kune Do? It is the pioneer of mixed martial arts founded by Bruce Lee.
Does anyone know if there are any Jeet Kune Do instructors in Sg?

There is something like taiji, something like judo....
I liked it for the discipline, and that its a non combat sport. Problem with it. When used on people, those people get broken joints...........which is kinda deadly.

what best way... best way is to learn it yourself la.

How? From books? Classes? Watch videos and follow what they do?
I think can try Krav Maga. Its suppose to be easy to learn and for REAL self defense

Except their main principles are different,
akido is based on the concept of aki, the balance of body and qi. Take away that balance and any agressor cannot commit any more agression.
taijiquan or in japanese, butosankempo, focuses on negating or redirecting of the force being used against you.
Best self-defense is to RUN!!!

I know that. But if the scenario is different, you have to fight!
