But in reality... I won't bother. Running is better than fighting.
Depends ba... a well trained practitioner should have no problems handling. Muay Thai is good. Fast and straight to the point.Originally posted by dumbdumb!:true.
but judo is really the worst self defence art to take up la. if u have no choice but to fight, its usually a 2 or more vs 1 kinda scenario. best is take up muay thai. some fast striking moves, take down some then run when there's an opening
a well trained practitioner will still get trashed. unless he quickly grab one and throw, and while the other person's still shocked and the sudden violence, runs away.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Depends ba... a well trained practitioner should have no problems handling. Keep it simple stupid.
Who cares what M.A you are in the streets.Just kick his groin, grope his testicles, gouge his eyes and punch his throat or something..You dont even need any training or strength to do the above.
BUT i would reccomand just walking away first.Only if its a matter of life and death.
WHAT?
For less than 5 mins of fame from the crowd congregating and watching you fight. You might suffer for 50 years on a wheelchair. And its not like your video clip/fight is shown locally or your face is on the papers like some celebrity fighter.
i'm too squeamish to cause hurt to others..Originally posted by Simon Dean:Ever heard of KISS

how about this?Originally posted by dumbdumb!:i'm too squeamish to cause hurt to others..
so i'm better suited for aikido and tai ji.
Yeah...Originally posted by dumbdumb!:a well trained practitioner will still get trashed. unless he quickly grab one and throw, and while the other person's still shocked and the sudden violence, runs away.
if he's gonna grapple, or if the 2 opponents are seasoned figthers, he's screwed.
All the vital points...Originally posted by Simon Dean:Ever heard of KISS

if you are a seasoned fighter, when someone punches you, you would automatically catch, twist and lock arm through his palm, swing your body and throw him to the floor, and finally deliver one strong stamp to break his arm from his shoulderOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:All the vital points...
No for me... everything is an evil cycle...Originally posted by eagle:if you are a seasoned fighter, when someone punches you, you would automatically catch, twist and lock arm through his palm, swing your body and throw him to the floor, and finally deliver one strong stamp to break his arm from his shoulder
ok force opponent into 90 degrees pose and give a frontal kick to his chestOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:No for me... everything is an evil cycle...
i've never seen it used in self defence though.Originally posted by eagle:
Does the terms "lock and hold" mean anything to you?Originally posted by Short Ninja:As for Judo in a street fight ,after you make your opponent lose balance or manage to throw him on to the ground and then what? That pissed off fella would just stand up and beat the crap out of you .
just because you attempt to lock and hold someone, doesn't mean it will be successfulOriginally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Does the terms "lock and hold" mean anything to you?
Ok, just for those who never taken a class in Judo before, the standard drill is to throw your uke and finish off with lock or hold.Originally posted by dumbdumb!:just because you attempt to lock and hold someone, doesn't mean it will be successful
in ufc, i see they sometimes can break free, or even counter attack.
ok, scratch that, i just saw the application part. hmm alot of fancy footwork needed. if the opponent trips you, you're screwed. its too complicated to be effective la i guess.Fancy footwork for bagua - yes.
One of my Ninja moves.I extend my left leg towards your groin area and out of instinct you would react by grabbing my leg with both hands.I then step off and do a flying kick to your throat/chin.I say 'goodnight' and knock you out!Originally posted by eagle:ok force opponent into 90 degrees pose and give a frontal kick to his chest

i know. but its not always successful, it depends on the skills of your opponent too.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:Ok, just for those who never taken a class in Judo before, the standard drill is to throw your uke and finish off with lock or hold.
A good lock and hold puts tremendous pain to the join.Cannot break free if properly executedOriginally posted by dumbdumb!:just because you attempt to lock and hold someone, doesn't mean it will be successful

yeah i noticed that too. but i still feel that if the opponent attacks your legs, your formation will be screwed, maybe if u mix bagua footwork with more aggressive attacks like muay thai boxing?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Fancy footwork for bagua - yes.
But that's where it helps. I myself have seen one practitioner moves from one point to another quite fast.
One moment he's in front, the next moment he's at the back.
Practice it slowly, it improves health.
Practice it on a fast pace, it improves agility.
Bagua is the ideal art for confusion in my opinion.
I saw a similar move to this in Jeet Kune Do youtube video, but it wasn't towards groin area.Originally posted by Short Ninja:One of my Ninja moves.I extend my left leg towards your groin area and out of instinct you would react by grabbing my leg with both hands.I then step off and do a flying kick to your throat/chin.I say 'goodnight' and knock you out!
Not sure for bagua because I've not practised that before.Originally posted by dumbdumb!:yeah i noticed that too. but i still feel that if the opponent attacks your legs, your formation will be screwed, maybe if u mix bagua footwork with more aggressive attacks like muay thai boxing?
