wow, thanks so much for the infoOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Xing Yi
Xin Yi, this is actually quite similar to Xing Yi Quan. Xing Yi and Xin Yi differs from the place where they originated from and in practising the art.
Xing Yi San Ti Shi places 70% pressure on your back leg, whereas Xin Yi places 60%.
Xing Yi has twelve animals, Xin Yi has more if I'm not wrong. It could be less. These are the two basic differences. I can't tell more as I don't practise Xin Yi.
Ba Gua Zhang
More info about Xing Yi Quan in Singapore can be found here.
Wing Chun or Yong Chun in Chinese. Wing Chun is quite an offensive art, using lots of locks. But one caveat - it's a lot about feelings. You can memorize the techniques, but if you can't feel properly, you are a goner. I've tried that, and was caught off-guard a lot of times. Footwork is not really emphasized, though good to have.
Hung Gar, my favourite site. As Hung Gar is a Southern art, footwork is highly emphasized. If you are looking for serious stuffs, this one is for you. Bear in mind though, not easy to learn. Master Chong also teaches Hung Gar (see xingyi.sg)
why not go for a trial for both or PM the moderator and ask herOriginally posted by davidche:I cant make up my mind between xing yi quan and ba gua zhang, which one should i choose??
Hmm... because Xingyi and Bagua themselves are internal arts. If you can grasp either of these two well, you will be able to understand Taiji easily. That's why I never recommend Taiji.Originally posted by davidche:one question mayi, why didnt you recomend me taiji quan?? is there something about it that doesnt suit my ''requirements''?
Just curious
