lol , it depends , either you going for sparring or performance , performance need stance , in combat who care about stanceOriginally posted by Hidden^OnE:So do you wanna practise 30mins of stances?
Most kickboxing and boxing classes focus on fluid footwork and not real stances le... go figure...
You go try the class and see if they really even teach you how to use your leg when punching or kicking lor.Especially when i am a noob and not knowing anything yet. They want me to just go practise WITHOUT demo-ing to me first.Originally posted by Hidden^OnE:So do you wanna practise 30mins of stances?

That's where you are wrong. In real combat, if someone can easily make you off balance, you have lost have the battle.Originally posted by Unidentified:lol , it depends , either you going for sparring or performance , performance need stance , in combat who care about stance

Once again, depends on class and type of martial art practised.Originally posted by Simon Dean:You go try the class and see if they really even teach you how to use your leg when punching or kicking lor.Especially when i am a noob and not knowing anything yet. They want me to just go practise WITHOUT demo-ing to me first.
Oh yea, to a complete martial arts newbie like me.Footwork was NOT covered at all!
Many instructors tend to bo-chap the trial lesson guy, I was a trial lesson guy once too, I don't know why. Maybe too many people go for free trial lessons and don't come back, so they sianz and rather spend time teaching paying students.Originally posted by Simon Dean:You go try the class and see if they really even teach you how to use your leg when punching or kicking lor.Especially when i am a noob and not knowing anything yet. They want me to just go practise WITHOUT demo-ing to me first.

Why not try paying for one month fees, then go train, perhaps you'll get a totally different perspective. You don't lose anything because you're training, and you really learn about how the lessons and the instructor is like. If you don't like it, next month go and try another martial art or a different instructor.
