  will taking up aikido as a CCA in school be useful? or is learning aikido from outside schools a better choice?

  you mean armed and unarmed ?
  coz i learn in CC we start off with basic close combat without weapon , then dealin weapon with your bare hand , then we go into weapon , either stick or sword

  there's a few different kinds of aikido around namely ki-aikido, ueshiba aikido, aikikai and so on...
