It's too violent. As far as I know, Jujitsu maybe an offensive art, but it don't teach people to break ribs or hit the eyes. Besides, all martial arts philosophy is never to get offensive. Unless he forces you to an extent that you have to hit the opponent. Otherwise, it's a no no. The best defence is to run away.Originally posted by CenturionMBT:I have a friend learning jujitsu, but the philosophy is rather questionable. Most martial arts will tell you to fight as a last resort under all situation. But for his case, he was taught offense as the best defense.
In addition, he was taught to kill rather than to defend, for example when encountering a strike block the arm and stab a knife below the armpit. stabbing the temple , hitting between the eyes, or craking the ribs of your opponents.
According to him, his training area is not really registered and is more like a private tuition center than an actual dojo.
Waddya think? Is it normal for martial arts practitioners to employ such offensive philosphy or is it just that i have been too in tuned to a peaceful solution?
haha that was what i told him. Unfortunately he has a mindset of violence through martial arts already and with his instructor likes to teach people on how to kill, specificly knife slashing and stabbing attacks and all the vital killing points, it just doesn't sound right. At first i thought he was bragging, but when i see some of the techniques he has performed on me, it looks pretty deadly.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:It's too violent. Jujitsu indeed has evolved into many different types, with one of them being Judo.Originally posted by stellazio:my gym has a course which teaches u how to fight with weapon..
jujitsu has evolved into many different types..
and trust me..martial arts for self defense is rubbish..
many ppl who have learnt or mastered the art, develops confidence and use it for the wrong purpose sometimes..
that is taekwando which is a weakling art..Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Jujitsu indeed has evolved into many different types, with one of them being Judo.
Martial arts nowadays are meant for entertainment and for show-off. Notice all those fanciful moves like high kicks, somersaults? Any martial art that is taught solely for self defense purpose won't teach you this. Reason being, you can't be fast. How fast can you dodge a knife coming straight at you with a somersault? He's going to stab your butt if you try a somersault. Try a high kick and you see blood gushing out.
Muay thai got a big loophole which, when being explored, is really a bad situation for fights, unless you know how to defend against it.Originally posted by stellazio:that is taekwando which is a weakling art..
i'm trained in muay thai and brazilian jujitsu..
perfect combi for stand and ground fighting..

its ok..most ppl that fight in the streets only knows offense..Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Muay thai got a big loophole which, when being explored, is really a bad situation for fights, unless you know how to defend against it.
Brazilian Jujitsu, never try them though. Not my idea of a good fight. Locks and throws will settle once and for all.
Running is for the show's purpose. In a real situation, you don't slide. If someone is trying to make you fall, you will fall sideways and hit with your hand. That hit with the hand will break the fall, plus the correct way of falling. Never to fall on your butt or spine area, because you will hurt them. Fall slightly sideways.Originally posted by monkeybusiness:how do u break?
i saw some ppl doing it...dey run a bit and den purposely slide down and use both hands to smack the floor...wah..so nice
another one was i saw during a aikido demonstration...wrist lock and the opponent fall to the ground in a somersault and break the fall..very spectacular..
basically its something like a 40-45 degree angle..Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Running is for the show's purpose. In a real situation, you don't slide. Wait for Take to come in. He's an Aikido student, can tell you better on breaking falls.
No, it's untrue. In fact, you are used instead. You will have some cushion with you and your master will give you fake weapons to use. You will learn how to defend against it and how to attack so that it will be to your advantage.Originally posted by NewAge:WHere to learn the art huh.
I heard that cats and animals were used as practice targets last time in sword fighting leh. So its not surprising if they practice slashing on the animals.
