Even though this is not really linked to martial arts, i feel that it is useful if we discuss this in the forums. Techniques and skills aside, the following tips is actually a relatively sure proof way of defending against rape.
Rape is a type of sexual assault. In most areas, rape is a legal term for unwanted sexual intercourse. Anyone can be raped. It is estimated that 1.3 rapes occur every minute in the United States. Isolation and vulnerability increase your chance of being raped.
Here are some tips to help you avoid rape.
* Avoid going into dark and deserted places alone.
* Choose your companions wisely.
* Keep your home and car locked and secured.
* Be alert to strangers around you.
* Consider taking a self-defense course.
* Use a loud whistle to attract attention.
* Consider carrying a self-defense spray such as pepper spray, if it is legal in your area.
If you are raped you should:
* Contact the police.
* Go to an emergency room, or contact a rape crisis center.
* Do not shower or change clothes before undergoing a physical exam and evidence collection at an emergency room.
* If you go through an examination at an emergency room, you may have a nurse or rape crisis counselor present for support during the examination. The purpose of the exam is primarily to obtain the facts to be use in criminal charges against the rapist.
* Medical treatment is available for prevention of most venereal diseases and for prevention of pregnancy.
* The doctor at the emergency room can diagnose and treat and physical injuries.
* Get counseling from a professional who specializes in helping victims recover from rape.
* Remember that the rape was in no way your fault. -
kick to groin is still the best..last time my instructor thought the girls a sure way to get the groin..its a 2-3 step method..

It is to be noted that this type of rape preventation only prevent so called 'rapist-unknown' type. Most rapes are carried out by 'friends' of the victim. That is another story!
If I am to attack you, I would do it from the back, using surprise element to subdue you. It would be a good idea for one to observe his(who say guys can't be raped?!?)/her surrounding. If the rapists is spotted he lose his element of surprise and will be less likely to strike.
If you are walking home alone, please do not talk on your handphone! You will lose connection with your surrounding, making you vulnerable(erm spelling?) to both rapists and snatch-thieves(your handphone is outside le!).
Most will be looking for an easy victim. If you carry an umbrella, your chance of getting selected would be lower.
Sure, you have a penknife with you. But why are you holding it with 2 hands? A penknife is more of a slashing then stabbing weapon. Holding it with 2 hands will make it ineffictive. Hold it with one hand at one side, high up(show him you got a knife). The idea here is not to use it, but to scare him away! -
Adding to Hidden One, also make sure that your headphones are not on your ears. You will not be as alert if you are going to listen to music. If possible, go home with your friends.
