Do not wait at triangle islands when crossing the road I HAVE been telling my family members that when waiting at a traffic junction to cross the road, they should not be waiting at the triangle island.
This is because in the event of a motor vehicle accident, an out-of-control vehicle can easily plough into the waiting pedestrians.
I came across this situation on Oct 23 near my home (Choa Chu Kang Ave 4).
My intention in writing is to share this information with the public, with the hope that pedestrians will learn to wait before the zebra crossing, away from the island.
It will take a bit longer to cross but, in the end, I'm sure it will create a much safer environment for pedestrians.
Every morning on the way to work, I drive on the slip road that passes by the location. The triangular island is usually full of people, and I can hardly see oncoming traffic. I shudder to think the injury that potentially may arise from such an accident.
I would strongly encourage the relevant agencies to review and implement this suggestion with urgency, so that pedestrian injuries can be avoided.
