  My budget is tight n ok, SEA only..

  Go Malacca, backpack there while taking KTM. Trend Hotel isn't too bad, damn cheap and you can walk around the old town too.
  
  Penang is fine if you love old sights, and seafood.
  
  If you want out of SEA, please spend 2 weeks nuahing in Perth. Now it's autumn..good for hiking and exploring.
