hello!
When there's a car accident, do you think that it would be helpful to have something to pop up to alert you from a faraway distance? Or, would it aid the ambulance and police in locating your exact location as it is rather difficult to define your precise location?
The pop up should be around 3m on top of the car, so that it can still be seen when a car is under the flyover, which is around 4.5m on the average. There would be a certain impact for the pop up, actionPOP, to be activated as it would work based on the theory of the airbag. It would be lying flat on top of the car when not in use, and will shoot up immediately when a huge impact is put at the rear of the car, which is where cars usually collide.
Therefore, with this invention, police and ambulance can locate the vehicle involved in the accident more easily, and from a far distance, even at night. You can also avoid the particular lane where the accident is and prevent a traffic caught up.
We have consulted other relevant companies like the traffic police, IDAC and Opel and they agree that it is a good idea. However, please do let us know your viewpoints and opinions. (:

its a decent idea overall, however-
i feel that
1) are you sure that it can be seen from far away -.-" it might just be some dot in the horizon
2) The flyoverfactor should not be limiting the height thingy. Whats the percentage of crashing under a flyover? i dont think you should care bout the flyover o_0
3) 3m isn't much of a help unless the colour is really glaring. so maybe longer lor

PS: maybe you should do something about the car plates.. like cover em or sth when car crashes. ITS REALLY STUPID WHEN EVERY CAR STOP BY JUS TO LOOK AT THE NUMBER PLATE TO BUY 4D -
Interesting feature for a car to have.
Well, I guess it would be helpful but will it cause other inconvience? Like where will this device be located (on the roof of the car?). Or you might want to consider stuff like how long will it take to inflate the device.
Maybe you can give us more details on how this thing actually work.

haha..nice one abt the car plate..haha..anw, if u wanna locate the car, might as well install GPS?! but uh..it cant be detected underground thou..hehe..the thingy will pose a hazard eh? cuz it's lyk airbag so it'll be soft and can sway in the wind? yea..sth along tat line la..and i think the thingy will obstruct the view of those vehicles behind eh..

corrections eh? the impact is at the back of the car cuz the car behind knock into it..so the impact will be at the front for the car behind..get wat i mean? -
Hmm, it would not obstruct the driver's view as it would be really high up. So, it can warn others who are far away and will not block the drivers who are directly behind.
Installin GPS might be quite a financial problem.. Would you want to add another thousand or two to your car just for that?
Anway, what we meant by the air bag technology is the impact. The air bag is produced when a large impact is made. Hence, our idea was derived from there. When a car bumps into another, the impact will cause action POP to rise from its' usual flat lying position.

-and when the popup thingey is inflated.. mayb it would obstruct sum of the bigger vehicles tt goes pass it? lyk double decker and stuff.. maybe increase the height bud make sure the inflated size is within the car's top?

Why not tie it to a baloon like air-bag. At collision, the air bag would be pumped and thus the thing will float. It would be tied by a string so it wont go anewhere far to be hazardous -
good idea but i have a few questions.. as a driver when you realise the lane you are in is jammed, more or less you know there is an accident in front so you either change lane or wait.. so the part abt allowing other drivers to notice it is kinda redudant... and as for the ambulance. when the report is made aint the exact location accompanied with it too?

u think it's a good invention and would help ease the traffic esp in the morning where there are many ppl rushin to work/ school? if it was at night.. maybe a strong light could be a gd signal.. with colours.. to make it noticable fast.. =)

as for the ambulance, it would be rather tough to explain if you were on a really long expressway wouldn't it? As we all know, there are some parts of the expressway which is unlabelled. Besides, what if the drivers collided in the middle of the night and both are unconscious? Do you think it would be helpful for police who are on patrol duty? -
The air bag is totally different. We're just using the theory of it. The bottomline is: an air bag would be produced when there's an impact. similarly, our actionPOP, a lime green glossy "banner", would be produced.. probably held on by a string to control its height. MY has got these REALLY LONG expressways and forests where it's practically deserted. So, if someone happens to go there (for any reason), and meets with an accident, they can be located too! Imagine you being a Singaporean who doesn't know the name of the expressway.. how helpless will you be?

Hmmm.. so maybe this device can be targeted at the global market too. Not only Singapore. Especially those countries with long long roads and expressways.
