Hmm, seems a lot of people dont know a lot of the heroes and villains in Chinese history
Come come, lets talk about your favourite hero or villain
I start with a hero
Yue Fei

Some characters very hard to put as hero or villains
like Qin Shi Huang, who united China and laid out many reforms that are used for a long time after his death, but treat his people badly and caused thousands to lose their life
Last Ming Emperor Chongzhen as well, a wise emperor who could not cope with the troubles already accumulated when he ascended the throne, or a useless emperor who lost the Da Ming Jiang Shan to rebels and Manchus
I heard the PRC honours Li Zicheng, because he rebelled against the upper class of society.

Chinese Hero , one definitely is Bruce Lee.
Although all he did was Acting. But in the hearts of many HK and chinese , he is somebody who show USA and the rest of the world , "Don't bully chinese". -

Forced burning of all those books, ancients literatures (highly valued by the scholars)...etc, bascially he may have used extreme enforcement method to "bulldoze" his way across, then on the other hand, if not use this method, all those unification may not happen also. -
Actually, Chinese history got numerous characters, from military heroes, villains, civil servant, philantrophists, poets and artists, village heroes, philosophers etc
