  Another poem that you might find familiar, it was used as a soya bean drink advert quite some years back.
  
  
  
  The author is Cao Cao's 3rd son, Cao Zhi. The poem came about when Cao Pi, Cao Zhi's brother and then emperor of the Wei kingdom, demanded that Cao Zhi come up with a poem within 7 steps based on their fraternal relationship, without using the word "brother", or else he would be put to death.
  
  Cao Zhi, a talented poet, then composed the poem above.
  
  The translation goes something like this:
  
  They were boiling beans on a beanstalk fire,
  Came a plaintive voice from the pot.
  "O why, since we sprang from the same root,
  Should you kill me with anger hot?"

  hehe, I got it from wikipedia, cos I thought my own translation was too simple.

  To cook beans, burn bean stalks.
  Beans weep in the wok.
  Beans and bean stalks come from the same roots.
  Why would beanstalk want to kill beans so quickly?
