I tell you, cochlear implant is nightmare....my nephew is also deaf like me but recently a few yrs back one of his ear went into profound hearing loss and had to implant a cochlear implant...its hell for you coz the machine cannot identify high tone and low tone so u only hear one tone when playing music..also interference is present and u cannot go under the metal detecter because it will spoil the device so u have to ask the guard to excuse u form it and usually they will use a portal hand detecter and check instead...i dunno the reason why...Originally posted by alfagal:jus trying to answer one qn i saw earlier.(i might b wrong...)
i guess the profile zone u are trying to say is:
profile analysis: the ability of the basiliar membrane to identify and different frequency sounds (basically high n low frequency).
as we age, we tend to lose the ability to hear e high freq. range. therefore, one interesting thing we noticed is tat older female sopranos usually go sing in the alto range, and tenor ranged males sings e baritone or bass range in the later stage of their singing sensation - cos they no longer are able to pitch high freq. notes due to less sensitivity of hearing them (they wont b able to tune to e piano in e higer ranges)
some deafness could b due to tis area here, one could hear e lower freq but not the higher ones, and vice versa. usually an hearing aid wld do e trick.
profound hearing loss means that a person will not b able to understand conversational speech even with hearing aids. (e.g burst ear drum or defect in the cohlear structure) without hearing aids, they are not able to detect any sounds even if u shout at them in e ear.
usually they get ard this prob via cohlear implant, which bypasses the ear structure (outer, middle), straight to e nerves where it sends signals to the brain for processes..

It is hard to really tell you the exact nature of your first complain as it is purely hormonal and their effects are too widespread and varies from one individual to another... some learn to adapt to it while some do not...Originally posted by starblue:Dr Reno,

as for the stomach thing. why does the stomach pains if posture is incorrect??? sometimes i sit in lectures also will get that. which means i cannot get up and walk around to soothe it. what else can i do to relieve the pain???
the fit was about 4-5 yrs old. can't really recall anything. all info feedback from mum. dad never brought this matter up.Originally posted by renorenal:Are you suffering from a condition called Febrile Fit when you were young?
By "when I was older", how old are you exactly?
Do you still have anymore episode of fits after 6 years old, especially the ones without fever?
The doctors are not wrong in carrying out the rightful protocol to rule out dangerous causes of fits... Febrile fit is a diagnosis of exclusion, more importantly is to rule out meningitis, fluid and electrolyte abnormalities, hypoglycemia, urinary tract infection, brain tumor or growth or vascular abnormalities in the brain secondary to birth trauma..

usually 1-2 hours after food. and it's definitely not the usual gastric due to not feeding. it feels different. whenever it happens, at first i will drink some water, test if it's usual gastric. but the water makes the pain a bit worse. then i gave up, just walk around (if not in lecture or wad lah). and sometimes the pain will start to clear up....Originally posted by renorenal:It is hard to really tell you the exact nature of your first complain as it is purely hormonal and their effects are too widespread and varies from one individual to another... some learn to adapt to it while some do not...
For your second question, maintaining an incorrect position for a long time will cause aches in the bone, joints and even the muscles..
Particularly, when does this stomach ache comes? Before food or after food?
Is the pain made worse after eating or relieved after eating?
Does it hurt at night up to the extent that it wakes you up at night?
Any vomiting, nausea, loss or increase in weight recently?
well i gues for now, science is still not tat good to receive all sorts of signals into the implant. but e implant helps him to understand human speech right? tat is e most impt source of communication and his rapid learning of language if he is still schooling.Originally posted by ceecookie:I tell you, cochlear implant is nightmare....my nephew is also deaf like me but recently a few yrs back one of his ear went into profound hearing loss and had to implant a cochlear implant...its hell for you coz the machine cannot identify high tone and low tone so u only hear one tone when playing music..also interference is present and u cannot go under the metal detecter because it will spoil the device so u have to ask the guard to excuse u form it and usually they will use a portal hand detecter and check instead...i dunno the reason why...

usually it does not occur when i am sleeping. only when i am talking on the phone till late at night, most probably sitting or lying in the same position for a long time then it will start. i usually will get a glass of milk, but the walk to the fridge usually makes it better already...

it started along side when i first developed gastric (i always have it when i skip a meal. without fail). wad is poor ergonomics??? and wad is retching???Originally posted by renorenal:Since when did this started? Not long rite?
Hmmm... I would believe you may be suffering from gastritis, but poor ergonomics would still be my main diagnosis... because you can walk it off... and the pain does not come on at night when you are sleeping...
It is best to get yourself checked up in the hospital... Do a urea breath test to rule out any possibilities of gastritis, because it may form ulcers...
By the way... do you sometimes taste acidic or watery stuffs in your mouth, and any symptoms of involuntary retching?
Bright red normally means new bleeding (fresh blood) and has nothing to do with menstruation (there are slight exceptions though), suspect other site for blood oozing out...Originally posted by alfagal:jus curious then, so does it matter if e menstrual flow is
1.bright red
2.stale blood looking (dark red, brownish)
3.thin liquid
4. thick blood that comes out like balls of jelly?
5. issit normal to have normal flow, but sometimes (in the same cycle) thicker blood like mentioned in 4?
