Hello,
I am Ozal and I came from Yangon, Myanmar three weeks ago. Now, I'm having a problem with praying Jummah Namaz.
Back in Myanmar, we all Muslims pray Jummah Namaz at the Mosque in following procedures.
-We arrive at the Mosque.
-Do nothing and wait for the Adhan
-After the Adhan we pray Sunnat 4 rakats.
-Then, another Adhan for Khutba and the Khatib delivers the Khutba
-After that, we pray Fraz 2 rakats for Jummah
-Then, Sunnat 2 rakats (optional)
-Nafil 2 rakats(optional)
I was fine with that procedure in Myanmar. But, here in Singapore, people are praying in a way that I don't understand.
Can you please explain me how Muslims pray Jummah Namaz in Singapore? It'll be great help.
Friday prayers? The procedure looks pretty much the same to me.
What I experienced just now was:
1. Adhan
2. Pray sunnat (either 2 or 4 rakaats)
3. Another adhan prior to the khutbah, then the khatib/imam gives the khutbah in two parts
4. Actual 2 rakaats for Friday prayers
5. Doa/sunnat prayers (optional)
Seems the same as what you did.
What was it that you found different?
I saw people came to Mosque and started praying a Namaz with 2 rakats before the first Adhan. I don't know what they were praying because back in Myanmar we usually didn't pray any Namaz before the Adhan. And, the next different one is, we usually prayed Sunnat 4 rakats in Zhur time before Jummah Faraz 2 rakats. But, here, as people are praying only 2 rakats for Sunnat, I was confused.
Now I understand the procedure clearly. Thank you, brother, for explaining.
Those two rakaats you saw before the adhan are just sunnat prayers out of respect for the mosque, nothing more.
