Once I heard that any game or sport that has a winner or a looser is Haram. So it means that playing something is not bad but when you have a looser or a winner that is when it becomes bad.So in that sense,Chess playing is also haram as there is a winner or a looser in the end.But this is the most coolest game on earth. So can't we even play this simple game?
--------------------------------------------
I ever heard music is haram too. There are people who argue that it is not. I am confused and upset. Music has become an integral part of our lives. On Tv, radio, internet, streets, shopping centres.. there is music everywhere. To remove music out of our minds is almost impossible, when we were young we were taught to sing in schools, listen to music, play musical instruments. So is music haram?
And chess also got draws. So no winner or loser.
don't mind me asking.. sport with a winner and loser?
considering this: the "most islamic country" on the planet, Iran, has a football team...
Most islamic country? I think that award should go to saudi arabia?

well, either one.. but i tend to look at it this way: In Saudi Arabia, the rulers are royalty while in Iran, they are the Ayatollahs..
p.s. Saudi Arabia has a football team too.. and a big football league within
In SA, the law requires that all Saudi citizens be Muslims. I dont think Iran has such a law.
Islam was also "born" in Saudi.
Saudi wins.
is the restriction becoming overboard?? im a muslim but i do some of it that is against muslim teaching....
but now even cant play chess?!! im not against muslim or watever but isn't this getting ridiculous?
Playing chess is not really about winning or losing
One can treat it as a training of analytical skills. "Winning" or "losing" merely reflects whether you need to improve upon your skills
Chess in itself is not prohibited.
Neither is music.
So long as you don't neglect your religious obligations in the midst of playing chess or listening to music. If you miss your prayers because you're too busy playing chess, then of course that wouldn't be right.
If chess is prohibited, screw it ...it's too ridiculous for me to follow.
Music is haraam.
Below is an extract from the excellent Islam Q & A website

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari ta’leeqan, no. 5590; narrated as mawsool by al-Tabaraani and al-Bayhaqi. See al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani, 91).
This hadeeth indicates in two ways that musical instruments and enjoyment of listening to music are haraam. The first is the fact that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “[they] permit” which clearly indicates that the things mentioned, including musical instruments, are haraam according to sharee’ah, but those people will permit them. The second is the fact that musical instruments are mentioned alongside things which are definitely known to be haraam, i.e., zinaa and alcohol: if they (musical instruments) were not haraam, why would they be mentioned alongside these things? (adapted from al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani, 1/140-141)
================================================
Allaah (SWT) says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah without knowledge, and takes it (the path of Allaah, or the Verses of the Qur’aan) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell‑fire)”
[Luqmaan 31:6]
The majority of mufassireen say that what is meant by Lahwa al-hadeeth (“idle talks”) in this verse is singing. Another group says that it is every sound of entertainment, which includes flutes, stringed instruments and so on. All of these mislead men from the path of Allaah and cause misguidance. It is proven that Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him), the great Sahaabi who was one of the scholars of the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) said, commenting on this verse: “By Allaah, this refers to singing.” And he said: “It causes hypocrisy to grow in the heart as water causes herbs to grow.”
And there are many ahaadeeth which point to the prohibition of singing and musical instruments and indicate that they are a means which leads to great evil and bad consequences. The great scholar Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah be pleased with him) discussed the rulings on singing and musical instruments in great detail in his book.
