Xenotransplanation

  With the advancement of medical technology, xenotransplanation (animals organs to humans) is touted as the new life saving technology.
  
  Various animals organs have being researched, with pigs the most common.
  
  Here the qn. If Pig organs xenotransplanation is proven safe and effective, will Muslims accept it?
  
  Scenerio A:
  
  Let say, touch wood, your wife or sister or daughter has organ (eg liver) failure and in dire need of a transplantation. However, there is no suitable human transplanation and the only way to save her life is thru pig xenotransplanation, will u let her to do the operation?
  
  In your view, is her life more important or religious commitment?
  
  Scenerio B:
  
  A Muslim who has a pig xenotransplanation. Let say he/she is ur friend, relative or even stranger, will you treat him/her with disdain? or stay away from him/her?
  
  Please treat this as medical qns.

  Muslims as far as i know cannot consume pork.....
  
  I think it would be acceptable by the authorities....
  
  But i feel that the populace would mind the fact that it comes from an animal which especially is filthy

  scenario B, is very shallow. haha. stay away from him/her? why? Islam isnt that bad.
  
  I mean if the transplant has been done then i suggest one, is to find a human transplant to replace with the pig's.
  
  but in the first place, i dont think the pig xenotransplant should be done. i mean. we cant consume pork and now you want a part of the pig to be inside my system? its a unanimous no, no. Theres no such thing as thers no suitable human xenotransplant. if theres a will, theres a way. [/i][/b]

  I do agree with you in the statement 'if there's a will, there's a way'. However, in some cases, time is the critical factor. The patient may in dire urgent need of immediate transplantation while no suitable humans organ has being found. So how?

  Like i said......the authorities could just allow its.....
  
  Its whether the people will get over the paranoia of the idea of using body parts from an animal that eats its own shit

  Who do you refer to when you say the authorities? Muslims are not only forbidden to consume pork. but are also forbidden from touching pigs... like how muslims cant touch dogs...

  actually, there is no such sura as far as i know that say you are not allowed to touch pigs..
  
  The quran only emphasized that we are not to consume pork nor are there any suras that i know of that says you cannot touch dogs.......
  
  everywhere in this world muslims are easily brainwashed and misinformed.....
  
  just like how some muslims say that louis armstrong the so called first astronaut in the world heard the adzan and converted to islam...
  
  when in fact, louis armstrong was a musician and wasn't muslim, however, the astronaut neil armstrong did hear the adzan when he was on the either near or at outer space becoz he got radio transmissions from arabia......even so, he didn't convert....same goes for anthony quinn.....
  
  alcohol too is not allowed to be consumed/drink becoz its an intoxicant....
  
  It is not said that you cannot touch or use it in any other way.....
  
  right now many muslim authorities are allowing alcohol in medicines as long as you dun drink it for sake of the alcohol ofcourse.....
  
  i've been on the bus also and overheard some malays sayin that their friend has to go for religious courses and that he has to dye back his hair.....
  
  these kinds of attitude and views are all old fashioned......
  
  if its about decency i think decency has nothing to do with the colour of our hair......wot you need to bring to a religious class is you heart.....
  
  if dyeing is not allowed then why do is see many bearded muslim men with orange dyed beards?.....

  Yea, dyeing is indeed permissible in Islam, but not to dye black. I do not know why.
  
  Regarding xenotransplantion, I have no idea how Islam deals with it, maybe this issue is needed to be raised at HOTA if there isn't

  Muslims doctrines are not only based by the Holy Qur'an But also the Hadeeths, or the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad.
  
  Mister, please Muslims are not brainwashed... Its not Louis Armstrong, he was Neil Armstrong. And you are right, he did not convert. But you know rumors/myths are inevitable.
  
  
  About Pigs and Dogs
  The proof of this is the Hadeeth of the Prophet – SallAllahu 'alahi wa-sallam – where he said:
  
  "If a dog licks in the utensils of one of you, then he should wash it seven times, one of them with sand."
  
  The Hanbalis included the najaasah of pig in the same ruling by way of Qiyas (analogical deduction) over a dog. In our time, sand has been replaced with soap and detergent etc, and surely they are better at cleaning then sand, and Allah knows best. An important point to note and remember is that Ghasl or washing means for water to run over a surface, whereas al-Mash or wiping means for one to wipe his wet hand over a surface.
  
  P.S I am sure everyone knows that pork is forbidden for consumption thus i wont post the explanation for that.
  
  As for hair dyeing:
  
  Pure black dye is not permissible. Rasulullah "There will be people who will come later (in my Ummah) and apply black dye. They will not even smell the fragrance of paradise." (Abu Dawood). However, it is permissible for a Mujaahid (warrior) to apply black dye in order to give the impression of being young. (Jawahirul Fiqh vol 2 pg. 421)
  
  What is the ruling on dying hair?
  
  The ruling on dying hair differs for men and women. For men, it is forbidden except for two occassions, which are:
  
  1) OneÂ’s hair has turned grey at a young age in which case it is permissible to dye it to its original colour, i.e, black.
  
  2) OneÂ’s hair has turned grey due to old age in which case it is permissible to dye it other than the colour black.
  
  3) When one is in war in which case it is permissible to dye oneÂ’s hair black to deceive the enemy.
  
  As for women, they are permitted to dye their hair with any colour at any time if the following conditions are observed:
  
  1) The hair colour used is within the natural colours of hair that has been created by Allah s.w.t such as brown, blonde, black and auburn.
  
  2) The hair must not be exposed to men who are not mahram.
  
  3) If she is married, initial permission from the husband must be obtained first.
  
  
  To dye the hair any other color besides black e.g. Mehndi or Katm (type of grass) is permissible. This was the practice of Rasulullah and the Sahaba, Radi-Allahu anhum. (Jawahirul Fiqh vol 2 pg 421).
  
  
  The general conditions for dying hair are that the product used must not contain any najis and it must not be waterproof. This is to ensure that water from wudhu’ and ghusl reaches the hair sufficiently. Products that have the “Halal” sign on it do not contain any najis but they may be waterproof.
  
  
  Mister, i am not being old-fashioned here. Im just following the laws. Please refer to your nearest local Islamic Center/Mosque, theres no use getting information from a Non-Muslim or those with no proper education.
  
  About the Alcohol, i know, you cant consume it but you do can use it for whatever other reasons. It has to be synthetic though. The naturally-made Alcohol is a total haraam. FYI, synthetic meaning, the Alcohol is made chemically.
  
  In all, Muslims, can dye their hair with permitted hair dyes like henna that is not waterproof. And he/she must avoid the color of his/her natural color. Like if i am a blond, i am forbidden from dying my hair yellow except for if my hair greys too early. This is to avoid the person from forgetting that we are all getting old. It serves like a reminder.
