Why are frogs haram?
I know Muslims don't eat frog leg porridge one.
What's the theory behind this? -

effectively, we do not eat animals that stand on top of the food chain...namely those killer preys... it's forbidden...frogs generally lie at the top coz they feed on flies and other insects... -
There is a hadith which states that frogs are considered as haram.
Truth be told, it's a matter of debate among Muslim jurists about whether or not the concept of 'two worlds' applies all types of animals which can live on both land and water. Some are of the opinion that crabs and lobsters fall under this category and are not allowed, while others say that they are permissible.
The general consensus among Islamic scholars seems to be that amphibians (turtles, frogs, etc) are definitely not allowed, while other types of seafood such as crabs and lobsters are subject to debate.

While Judaism has similar (in some ways, even stricter) dietary laws than Islam, kosher is not necessarily equal to halal and vice versa. For example, in Islam, alcohol is forbidden, while in Judaism, it is allowed.
Likewise, in Judaism, meat and dairy products can't be mixed (no cheeseburgers and tandoori chicken), while Islam has no such ruling.
The consensus is that food certified kosher may be consumed in the absence of halal food. Of course, if halal food is available, then it has to be consumed first. -

The abundant of living creatures in the sea is a gift of food for you SEAFARERS. **this is not the original statement la. but its something like this**
So that will explain also why fishes need not be sacrifice or slaugthered unlike those land animals, cows, chickens, lambs etc etc.... -

The rule is that everything which we are forbidden to kill, we are not allowed to eat; if we are allowed to eat it we are allowed to kill it. Here the rule is that in the case of animals that live both on land and in the sea, the rules concerning land animals should be given precedence, to be on the safe side, so they must be slaughtered properly, except for crabs which do not need to be slaughtered, even though they live both on land and in the sea, because they do not have blood.Originally posted by Master -_-:where got forbid..like that crab also cannot eat ah..
