Background
The Company was incorporated on 21 August 1970 under the name Teo Teck Huat Enterprises (Pte) Ltd. It changed its name to Teo Teck Huat Investments Pte Ltd and subsequently to Amara Hldgs Pte Ltd on 6 July 1995. In the 1930s, the late Teo Teck Huat founded the business which started as a building construction company.
It developed the Amara Hotel and Shopping Centre. Subsequently, it set up a number of specialty restaurants. Expanding overseas, it developed the Amara Saigon in 1996. The Amara Chengdu opened in 2000. By 2002, The Amara Wuhan would have completed construction. -

Background
The Company was incorporated in Singapore on 27 December 1967 to undertake the development of a 4-star hotel and shopping complex known as Apollo Singapore Hotel which opened for business in February 1972. On 30 September 1975, it acquired public status via a public issue of 4 million shares of $1 each. The Company's principal activity is that of hoteliers and investment holders.
In 1981, the Company diversified into property development through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Apollo Properties Pte Ltd. In 1983, the Company through its subsidiary, Apollo Center Pte Ltd, developed the Apollo Centre, a 7-storey commercial building. In 1994, it acquired the Furama Hotel Singapore. In 1996, it acquired a 4-star hotel in Sydney and renamed it Furama Hotel Central, Sydney. It also has a 13 percent interest in the 872-room 5-star Grand Hyatt Hotel, Taipei.
In 1999, the Company entered into a management agreement with Accor Group of France. Apollo Hotel was renamed Novotel Apollo Singapore. -

In 1991, the Company entered into a redevelopment programme. Redevelopment of the hotel was completed in the second half of 1995 and full hotel operations resumed thereafter.
In 1998, the hotel changed its trade name to Meritus Negara Singapore. This change in name positioned the hotel as part of the Meritus Hotel group, owned by listed Overseas Union Enterprise Ltd, listed on the SGX-ST. -

Background
The principal activities of the Company are those of a hotelier, property owners and the holding of investments. It owns and operates the 350-room Plaza Parkroyal and the adjoining The Plaza (commercial building and serviced apartments), the 531-room New Park Centra and the 337-room Grand Plaza Parkroyal Hotel in Singapore.
The Group has majority interests in four hotels in Australia, Parkroyal at Darling Harbour, Parkroyral Paramatta and The Landmark Parkroyal, all three in Sydney and the Sheraton Perth Hotel in Perth. In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Garden Plaza Parkroyal Hotel commenced business in 1997 while Hotel Sifotel Plaza commenced in end 1998. Background
The Company was incorporated in Singapore under the name of Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken Pte Ltd on 22 September 1973. On 1 February 1983, it was converted into a public limited company under the name of Kentucky Fried Chicken (S) Ltd, operating the fast food franchise.
In 1986, after transferring the fast food business to a subsidiary, it became a holding management and investment company, under its present name. Background
The Group had its origin in 1935, when Mr Ow Kim Swee, father of the Group Chairman, started his tongkang (wooden lighter) business under the name 'Hai Sun Hup'. As a small tug and barge operator, he provided lighterage facilities for ships anchored in the harbour and at warehouses along the Singapore River.
In 1970, Hai Sun Hup Co (Pte) Ltd was incorporated to take over the operations of the sole proprietorship. Since then, the Group has expanded from sub-contractor to sub-agent to agent and shipowner.

The Company was incorporated in Singapore on 28 August 1999 as an investment holding company under the name "Thai Village Holdings Pte Ltd" to hold the entire share capital of Thai Village Sharksfin Restaurant Pte Ltd and Thai Village Overseas Ventures Pte Ltd. The Company changed its name to Thai Village Holdings Ltd on 6 April 2000 in connection with the Company's conversion to a public company limited by shares.
The Group's business started as a partnership in August 1991 when Lee Tong Soon and Kok Nyong Patt started the first Thai Village Sharksfin Restaurant at East Cost Road. This restaurant has a built-in area of 1,800 sq ft and seating capacity for 90 customers.
The Group has grown into a chain of 3 restaurants located around the island with a processing plant in Tai Seng Avenue in Singapore. The Group has also established regional presence in Indonesia and in China. In Indonesia, the outlets which are located in Jakarta and Surabaya stemmed from franchising and service agreements respectively. Presently, its Chinese branches are located in Shanghai, Kunming, Qingdao and Beijing. A processing plant has also been set up in Dalian. It also has a network of 14 franchises, located in Tianjin, Quanzhou, Wuxi, Fengxian, Nanjing, Ningbo, Guiyang, Changzhou, Wuhan, Xian, Suzhou, Fuzhou, Zhangjiang and Yangzhou.
In 2002, the Group entered into a Master Franchise Agreement with MK Restaurants, Thailand's largest steamboat chain.
