Mediacorps - Sports Programmes

  Mediacorps should seriously think of re-introduce a sports channel so that live sports programmes can be shown for the benefit of all. The recent excuse given by mediacorps for not showing the live soccer match between Thailand vs Singapore is not good enough. There are six channels under mediacorps (channels - 5, 8, U, suria, vasanthan and okto) and yet the excuse was not to disrupt normal programmes. Why can't a decision be made in advance that the live match will be shown in one of the six channels. I would like to suggest either it be shown at channel U or Okto because: (1) channel U is the additional mandarin programmes which are available at channel 8 for Chinese viewers. (2) channel Okto - the match was played at 8.00 pm hence most kids should have been in bed. Better still if mediacorps could re-introduce a sports channel like some years ago before the introduction of CNA. Come on those incharge at mediacorps, press the government for sports channel and allow our children to be exposed to healthy lifestyle.

  Hullo This is Singapore. This is the 21st century. They want to earn your money. They want you to sign up for starhub or singtel sports group plus pay per view.

  Whatever the tv station chooses to telecast depends on the sponsorship (or advertising dollar) that they can get from the relevant corporations.  In this case, it will be companies like Adidas, Nike, F&N (for 100plus) etc.

  The six channels are free to air from mediacorps. I suggested two channels (U or Okto) to choose for the soccer live match which would not disrupt much as mediacorps excuse not the telecast the live match was not to disrupt scheduled programmes. Surely, viewers of the 2 channels would not mind for the disruption as they have other free to air channels for their choice of viewing during the 2 hours live match. Come on, we must give and take that is always promoted by our government. I also suggested sports channel to promote healthy lifestyle in Singapore which is lacking.

  still remember the days when they had a channel called ,sportscity. was pretty good while it lasted. now they got one sports show abt school games i think. trying to mimic the american college tournaments i think. but better than nothing
