International film star Zhang Ziyi was turned away by a high-end boutique while shopping in Singapore two weekends ago as it had closed at 6pm, at about the time Zhang and celebrity hairstylist David Gan walked up to its doorsteps.
This incident and snippets of Zhang's three-day visit to Singapore over the Hari Raya Puasa weekend were revealed in Gan's blog on Sept 23.
Gan said Zhang was down town to dine, shop and relax after completing a shoot for a programme on the National Geographic in Borneo, Indonesia.
She and Gan were touring Singapore and over that weekend, had gone shopping at the Hilton Shopping Gallery on Orchard Road.
Wrote Gan on his blog: 'They rejected an international celebrity because of a technicality? I'm not saying that they had to let us in because Ziyi is an international star but rejecting her would give the brand and the service industry in Singapore a bad name.'
Gan then went on to suggest that the staff at the boutique should be trained in hospitality to improve 'communication' and service to customers.
He added that the management should also 'choose and train floor staff properly before sending them out to the real world.'
But Gan acknowledged that Zhang generally believes the services in Singapore to be 'fabulous' and 'everyone is so polite and thoughtful.'
'But...there's always that 1 per cent in 100 per cent that would bring down a good name of the entire industry,' he added.
What do you all think? Does this reflect bad service in Singapore. Personal opinion is the boutique is right. Close means close. Leeway can be given sometimes but it has to close when its really time to close. But what irritates me is this DAVID GAN always dropping names to let people know how close he is to superstars.

Some people were questioning how he blogged about this if he was illiterate.

According to TNP, Zhang Ziyi happily returned to the shop the next day and bought some things.
So if she herself wasn't bothered, then why should David Gan bother?

Who gives a damn to Zhang watever and her loudmouth bald sidekick? So what if they are rich and are celebrities? I dont have anything to celebrate with them. They mean nothing to me, absolutely nothing.
This is SIngapore. We are a Republic where all are equal. We kneel or bow to no human except to our parents and elders whom we respect. The managers or sales staff of that shop did the right thing.
I sure will patronise that store more, and may someone tell that loudmouth barber to focus on his own service and not cut the throats of his clients along with his nonsensical explanations for his fugly creations, turning innocent girls looking like aged wrecks and matured women looking like monsters from the deep.

By the way, those branded shops at Hilton Shopping Gallery are bigger internationally than ziyi, so why should they give her face to allow her in.
It is not as if that there are no branded shops, boutiques in orchard.

You know sometimes pple can be affected by the pple he mix without . So when he mix with famouse star naturely he expect to be one .
Close mean close lar , whats the big deal , he expect whole planet to cater to them just because they are stars issit ? I didn't even hear of michael jackson complaining of such things lor .when he was alive , on the contrary i heard he was a very polite man . Not like someone who only know how to complain over ridiculouse things .
If he really mind it so much then run a 24 hr mobile boutique shop for the stars lor . Kao peh Kao bu .

imo, the shop should have stayed open for zhang ziyi. it's an honour for an international star to grace the brand.
can u imagine if beckham or zidane visits our adidas boutique and they say "oh sorry, it's closing time." No way!
