"Jewel in the Palace" star Lee Young-ae has married a South Korean businessman in the U.S., her lawyers said.
The 38-year-old South Korean actress wed a 54-year-old businessman who works at an information technology company, the Dongin Law Group said in a statement sent to The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Lee plans to keep her husband's identity secret and won't release photos from Monday's wedding, which was attended only by family members and close friends, Dongin said.
She will move to the U.S. but continue her acting career in South Korea, it said.
Lee became hugely popular across Asia for her starring role as a late 15th century royal doctor in the 2003 TV drama series "Dae Jang Geum," or "Jewel in the Palace." Her movie credits include "J.S.A: Joint Security Area," a thriller about the friendship between South and North Korean soldiers guarding their border, and the romance "One Fine Spring Day."
Her last film, director Park Chan-wook's "Lady Vengeance," was released four years ago. She played a wrongly convicted murderer who seeks revenge after her release from prison.
