ALL the Chinese dailies highlighted the death of Michael Chu, husband of well-known Hong Kong actress Cherie Chung, in Hong Kong on Friday.
Chu, 53, is believed to have died from colon cancer but there is no official statement on the cause of death.
Chu, a successful and talented businessman in the advertising industry, was known for his creative work in the Titus watch commercials which starred Chinese superstars like Chow Yun-Fat, Anita Mui and Dave Wong Kit.
Chung, 47, known as the “Marilyn Monroe” of the Hong Kong entertainment industry for her gorgeous and classy look, married Chu on Dec 10, 1991, when she was at the peak of her career.
She has retired from the film industry. They have no children.
News of Chu's illness was first reported by the Hong Kong press in May when Chung was seen accompanying her ailing husband to seek medical treatment.
