So we have a clearer picture of how teo escaped from his camp on that nite. Sabo king. Now many ppl kena 'killed' by him. Sure it will take many hours to 'clear arms' when u sending in ur rifles after range or ex.

Why can't they just use the metal detectors at the range?
Frankly, perhaps its time the SAF spend more money on camp security measures and automated security systems. Basic fundamentals of camp security cannot be chucked aside while all the big toys are bought. -

Every range is equipped with metal detectors and some units makes it compulsory to have metal detectors as part of their store items when going range.
the problems are:
a) spoiled detectors
b) unreliable detectors (cheap taiwanese ones compare to Garrett)
c) superior officers just follow thru motion
d) superior officers NOT TRAINED to use metal detectors
e) range usually overshoot schedule, awaiting contracted coaches threaten to leave if the unit don't hasten up.
f) simply bo chap, bo hiew, dunno dun care, ORD loh. -

the DO is comfirm going to get one time jia lat jia lat for taking 3 hrs to report this to Army's General Staff Operations Centre.
plus the Range RSM for not ensuring no rounds get out of the range and the sgt who spotcheck him.
i find it strange how is CPL dave able to get hold of 3 tracer rounds? most probably he didn't fire them and never surrender them back to the ammo IC. in that case the supervising sgt for that lane he is in might also get it. maybe even the conducting officer as well for not keeping track of any unfired round in the detail.

he didnt fire the rounds, didnt delcare... and maybe it was dark at nite.. thats why the checks not that thorough..

65grams per 5.56mm RAI.
Unit issued 3000 5.56rds for a range. Expected RAI return is 65x3000 = 195kg of RAI at end of day.
I believe it is not a wise way to count RAI. -
On 2 September, Corporal Teo was assigned patrolling duty and its procedures require it to be conducted on two—hour shifts and in pairs.
Well, this cleared up one issue. Duty SOP should've been "guard two hours, rest four hours", like in my time.
Still, I don't understand how Teo could climb out the window without anyone in the bunk seeing him (if he did it between 2200 to 2359). Is the upstairs bunk partitioned, or else where was everyone? If Teo hid on the paraqet & patiently waited for his opportunity, why didn't his prowler buddy raise the alarm?
Err... Also, how come today's guardrooms look like a backpacker's inn from the outside? ~lol~ Where to detain an arrested soldier, deh. -

but when i return ammo, what they did was to dump everythign on weighing machine.
I dunno what's the weight they are looking for, but they told me a casing is 65grams each.. i just did not give it a 2nd guess..

I read in the papers now the new procedure is to fence up the guard room bunk window for mandai .. and metal chain the rifles on the rack.
I thought the metal chain is SOP across SAF? You mean got guards off duty but can keep their rifle with them? -

so when you are doing prowling, you have a rifle that is chained to the rack, yup.. the chain is 3-5 km long. -

According to the latest, the serviceman is seemed to be deeply troubled by his falied relationship with his girlfren which could be leading him into this
situation.
