venny, u do not understand the anguish in which past seniors are feeling when they watch the show. If you are one of the performers, then wake up ur idea, and if u are the 1sg then wake up ur effing idea. Do not judge anyone here, there is nothing wrong with a lao jiao expressing disgust for a xingjiao, everyone who served NS know abt the lao jiao qie Xingjiao thing and everyone acknowledges it, so i dont see anything wrong spdsboi kbing the performers, if u were a senior, you would've done the same. and so what if he joined recently only, does he not have the right to express his disappointment and anguish then?
and if u realise, they put up a farktype show, and u ask pple to forget abt it since its over, but for christ sake this is a state event, how could u screw up a state event in front of tourists and sporeans alike and say just forget it? such a cockup muct be dealt the iron hand of justice.... when the SAF and the country's reputation is at stake. -

it was a show that many ppl will rmb as the worst put up by them. but i dont think that was a big parade.
i've seen bigger parades for much higher dignataries and screwups on actual days too. those were much more significant than these 1 small show of cog. i've seen ppl kena charged and go db for screwups or even collapsing in a major parade.
maybe u might think that was an important parade. but i feel those parades were are the smallest ones they will ever do and that they did it to prepare themselves for much bigger and important ones. civilian audiences are considered minor. i think they use it to train them up.
u guys shouldnt take that as a testament to hw gd they are overall as its only a small parade. to make such severe criticisms over a small parade is to me making a mountain out of a molehill. -

Like i said, this type of mistakes :
memory mistake + look here look there + cannot decide + ai mai ai mai + move into formation so slow
should not be present in Squad Members.
Thats why it made so many pple angry over this issue. Especially in COG, state performance.
I think spdsboiboi is not bring them down to make himself great, but the fact is they really cannot make it. I think mainly because of inadequate guidance from their instructors, and i wondering who is the one that guided them for this performance.
Come and give this kind of standard, if i their instructor now they whole week stay in night training.
This kind of anger + sadness + shock can only be experienced by a fellow MP. -
i second melmoth's point. hmmm. i was once from mp too. it was my friend that informed me of this youtube video. not totally venny's fault too but venny, judging by all the comments posted, i think 1 or 2 are previously or currently mps. i don't see much flaming but its only natural that if points of views can't be gotten across face to face you tend to get frustrated at all these wretched changes taking place yet you feel you can't voice it out. and even if you've voiced it out, nothing seems to have changed- the irony of it all eh?
judging from that video- i was there with my mates that very sunday. i tell you. the claps sounded forced unlike last month's all the many months before then. anyone without prior knowledge in 'spds' would have known that all of them were making grave mistakes. this isn't a state event. but the purpose of this COG - change of guards is to project our old dying traditions for the world to see..and these performances obviously should have reached a certain standard before you project it for all to see. look at the previous few youtube videos [b](seriously you gotta see the difference)[b] -

even a date as recent as january.
i'm a firm follower of strict discipline and hardwork hence reaping rewards on stage. none of these 'rewards' would have been possible without conscientious effort or the willpower to overcome weakness in the human spirit. i've been following the change of guards performances very closely and always waiting for new videos of spds to be posted. but the recent one that was posted was horrific. venny..if you're able to find 100 spds performers from the past, chief instructor or not, i'm sure all 100 would tell you the same thing.
they can go f -u-c- k off. its the cold hard truth. no 2 ways bout it. -
maybe i dun understand hw some of u guys who r ex-mp cos im nt frm mp... im frm another unit, that does alot of drils and parades too... i've seen gd and bad ones frm the mp. cant really say i know them all. but i've seen other cog frm them n its pretty gd. im sure this is jus an exception.

venny, you still fail to realise that COG is performed on Istana grounds and is hence a major affair. So what if u've seen bigger parades with foreign dignitaries and pple making mistakes and gettting charge? have u actually seen the video? its not one, two or three mistakes, the entire squad was screwed up, by comparison, this is worse than a bigger parade but with 2 or 3 mistakes. Well, i sure hope the instructor gets charged for disgracing the show when the performers are supposed to be the show...
hey u can check out the comments left on the video, pple are saying that NCC can do better etc, if you get that kinda comments, then we're certainly not making a mountain out of a molehill....

oh well , just saw alreadt quite dissapointed , so difference when i last saw it at istana last year.
Well , i feel that what they perform will reflect on how was the training.
Let hope that they will do better next month , i may go n support by going down istana to watch it again -
i've never seen that much patriotism frm nsmen to their own unit. perhaps i dont see it as seriously as u do ah. im also one of those avid watchers of mp drills. i did have the chance to do parade with all those mp lao jiao frm last yr n this yr.

yeah looks like people have really started talking bout it. lets hope also that this sorta spur them on to perform better. i don't ask for much. no need to impress me with different or new and fanciful drills. just do a safe performance without errors, and i believe that is the only way that would truly silence the world.

not going to speculate who is the 1sg, but it should be pretty obvious by now
and the whole squad are NSFs except for the 1sg....
training, uniform, boots, conduct are wholly managed by NSFs. All the instructors are NSFs, they are the ones who conduct trainings, and yes, training is very very xiong, rifle warm ups, running around parade squares, all these are conducted by NSF instructors. All these are done the same way since 1984, when SPDS was first passed onto Singapore by Taiwanese trainers. so far, standards have been high until this recent show....
and there is a spds spec whom the NSF instructors answer to. A squad's morale and capability hinges on the SPDS spec. IF the SPDS spec is up, then the men are up, but if SPEC cui, men also cui... -
no wonder u all so on de. but who chooses the specs? no warrant, no officer in charge de mehz?

there is an OC officer in charge who picks the SPDS spec but basically he leaves the running of the whole SPDS to this spec because officers are not trained in SPDS.At least in our time that was the case.
Generally the Spec would not go out and perform because the men would have better drills then him because they train more/harder. -

Maybe due to all the shit we went thru, plus the pride we had while performing made us so united and we loved our unit despite sometimes management screw up..haha
I love my NSF life in my unit and i am proud of it.. Maybe thats the cause of my anger too.
Lets hope they can accept this failure plus the tons of awlful comments graciously and work harder for the next performance. -

Search youtube for any other SPDS videos and you will find a couple of good ones.Some have been there since Feb 2006 or even 2005 I believe.
But post ONE single bad one and then they come complaining to you.

it simply doesn't sound right. who on earth passed down the instruction for the removal of the video? by right this video belongs to the poster- the host. if they've requested to remove the video, on what grounds do they have to ask for such thing? simply outrageous.

i think there is no point to this thread anymore. The more ruckus we make here.. the more the lower rank NSF (the Men) will tio.
