I love to take a route which involves travelling on the ECP ....Imagine stuck in a crappy place then having a chance to see civilization again.
I love going out of camp especially when your detail needs to go many places.
By the time finish and come back to camp,time to book out liao! -
NSC > ARC via Thomson Road, Holland Road.
Most of mine were basically from NSC to Jurong/Boon Lay area though..once we went to SGC..I felt pity for the chaps within.. -

SAF drivers no more keep log book, meh? In my time, they have to record everything down: destinations, distances traveled, petrol used(?). Then the vehicle commander was supposed to confirm the account with his signature, at the end of the day.
But things were quite slack during my reservist. My R&S group was the vanguard & had complete autonomy (operationally to prepare the ground for Arty deployment), but were always very late for designated mealtimes so my CO usually closed one eye on this. So, whenever we get a brief downtime in between missions, the various R&S vehicles would drive off individually for makan & teabreaks.
Then we got more adventurous through the years, driving out to spend the night along Lim Chu Kang Road or at Yishun Stadium & thus escaping the mosquitos. The most audacious one, thinking back, was attempting the same tactic during ROC. I remember once sleeping inside a half-finished condo, after getting their security guard's permission, of course. At least that was relatively safe, compared to quietly backing into a back alley in some small village (foreign country, mind you) for a snooze. Luckily, the sun rises at 5am in Taiwan & their rural life won't awaken until 6:30 or so. We were already up & on the move, seeking breakfast before anyone spotted us.
Back home, we were eventually bold enough to drive unannounced into army camps for unauthorized baths. Amoy Quee was the most familiar; why's hilariously memorable was once having one of my unit's line BTYs sneaking in en masse (inside two 3-tonners) on a Sunday to shower at their former 20 SA bunks -- when the then-active 20 SA batch was on overseas training! ~lol~ -
