i agreed totally with u..Originally posted by strado:The LBV is newly designed to put more stuffs and make things, more easy, that I agree. but it has its flaws too. When I went for field camp and we got arty drills, i proned down on the ground and cos my magazine pouches is on my chest area, and plus we are supposed to keep all our extra stuffs like fork and spoons, insect repellants and camo cream inside them when not having extra mags, then i proned halfway the 2 tubes of insect repellants and 2 tubes of of camo cream got squashed! Then all drip out, my rifle and boots become partially green and sticky.
The water bag is extra, cos when u go for route march, u carry the field pack after the lbv, so the water bag that is on ur back will be compressed by the field pack and it all leaks out. (many ppl faces the same problem).
The lbv also have water bottle, water bottle is for water parade, water bag is for personal OTOT. So the part abt whether the water bottle or water bag is better is redundant.
But I always use water bottle anyway, and I dont filled up my water bag at all. Makes the lbv heavy and wet.
The lbv is hard to wash, after BIC especially. And cos its like a vest, so it gets sticky if u sweat too much and it stinks. SBO only has got two straps, so it hardly absorb all the sweat.
I dunno what's your unit SOP, but we store our camo cream and insect repellents in a plastic tupperware survival box and keep it in the LBV utility pouch.Originally posted by strado:The LBV is newly designed to put more stuffs and make things, more easy, that I agree. but it has its flaws too. rifle cleaning kit usually i put in the waterbag compartment...goretex...never even bother to useOriginally posted by strado:Our utility pouches is full already - with our rifle cleaning kit and gore-tex poncho, so there is no space for camo cream, insect repellant.

u all talking in bmt context rite?Originally posted by strado:Oh yes! One major problem is the live-firing. Its hard to push the rifle butt into the shoulder blade cos the LBV blocks it. especially if in standard, all of us are to pull the water bag tube on the right side of the shoulder and we happen to be right-handed.
Silly people - one of my main issues with the SAF. It isn't so much a war fighting organization as a wa-yang organization.Originally posted by WP_:Commanders make it a standard that everyone in my company must bring goretex, toggle rope and RCK. So all these are put in the utility pouch. LBV is a bad ideal with all the standardisation cause LBV supposed to be personalized. There's still improvement that needs to be done with the LBV.
Personally i think the SBO is better, good ventilation, don't restrict movements, easier to wear and you can feel the butt of the rifle better.
at least wayang can put up a really good show to othersOriginally posted by lwflee:Silly people - one of my main issues with the SAF. It isn't so much a war fighting organization as a wa-yang organization.
Standardization is taken to an extreme at the expense of comfort and ergonomics. These people completely miss the point.

the LBV is not so bad uh...Originally posted by I_love_my_toilet:at least wayang can put up a really good show to others
1st impression counts remember ?
i would say there should be minimum comfort and ergonomics to soldiers
soldiers are not customers
standardization is a must, if not there is no wayang, there is no armed forces
