" The remains of the late 3rd Sergeant (3SG) Isz Sazli Bin Sapari were brought back to Singapore by a RSAF C-130 aircraft at 3:15 pm today. He will be accorded a full military funeral at the Pusara Abadi Cemetery in Lim Chu Kang this evening at 5:15 pm.
Separately, arrangements are underway to transport the remains of the late Private (PTE) Fan Yao Jin back to Singapore tomorrow after the completion of religious rites as requested by his family. The late PTE Fan will also be accorded a full military funeral.
MINDEF and the SAF are continuing to render assistance and support to the families of the late 3SG Isz and PTE Fan.

The two SAF servicemen warded overnight at the Intensive Care Unit of the Taipei Tri-service Hospital were flown back to Singapore this evening. They are now warded in Singapore General Hospital, where they will continue to receive treatment for their burns and injuries.
The two Full-time National Servicemen, 3rd Sergeant (3SG) Ramakrishnan Karthigayan, 23 and Lance Corporal (LCP) Chow Han Min, Calvin, 19 were brought back to Singapore by a RSAF KC-135 aircraft specially equipped for medical evacuation. The aircraft arrived at Changi Air Base at 5:28 pm. Members of the SAF medical team, including a burns specialist and a medical aviation expert, augmented by specialist staff and life support systems from Alexandra Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the National University Hospital, were on board the aircraft to monitor the condition of the two soldiers throughout the flight.
Minister for Defence Mr Teo Chee Hean visited both servicemen at the hospital this evening. Minister Teo also met with the relatives of the servicemen to assure them of MINDEF's and the SAF's support during this difficult time -

SGT Isz Sazli Sapari given full military funeral

SINGAPORE : Over a hundred people attended the funeral of 3rd Sergeant Isz Sazli Sapari on Saturday afternoon.
The 19-year-old SAF personnel was one of two servicemen killed in the fighter jet crash incident in Taiwan.
Family members shared their moment of grief in prayer as the cortege arrived at a mosque at the Pusara Abadi Cemetery around 4.30pm.
His body had been flown back to Singapore via a RSAF C-130 aircraft earlier.
3rd Sergeant Isz Sazli was accorded a full military funeral at the Muslim cemetery in Lim Chu Kang.
Three rounds of ammunition were discharged as a sign of respect.
Those who turned up for the procession included friends and many army personnel.
Just last month, a Police Coast Guard had been buried there after he was killed in the line of duty.
And 3rd Sergeant Isz Sazli now rests some 50 metres from Station Inspector Mohd Khalid Muhamad.
Family members were too distraught and declined to be interviewed.
But his ex-schoolmates from Broadrick Secondary School, who had been looking forward to a class reunion, described him as likeable and easygoing.
The 3rd Sergeant was set to be enrolled in the Arts and Social Sciences Faculty at the NUS.
He was from Anderson JC.
Nurul Ain Alias, Former Secondary Schoolmate, said: "He has the biggest heart among all the guys I know. He's very kind, he always has a smile for every body. He tops the level every year and everybody knew him as a smart guy."
The family of the late Private Fan Yao Jin were in Taipei to conduct religious rites at the crash site.
MINDEF says arrangements are underway to transport the remains of Private Fan back to Singapore on Sunday.

All right .. they avoided a PR nightmare. They probably saved millions of dollars 'cos there is no need to compensate their own citizens. In comparison, paying for our 2 dead soldiers is peanuts to them. -
The only way i can think of for any claims on this incident is to have the family members and injuried personnel to engage an attorney to file a wrongfull dead and injury against the department of defence in Taiwan. The entire system will be in the Taiwan judicial system. I thought we publicly acknowledged we are there but not "officially" recognized we are there. But I think this incident change the rule of the game. -

The international press, American, Chinese and Taiwanese all reported on it, including Reuters, Washington Post, Taipei Times, China Times.
The Straits Times editors better do some soul-searching, these people train as conscripts and died in an accident, and all they can think of is talk of F1. I'm seriously disappointed with the kind of culture and mindset that is wafting around the top. -

Govt does not want to alarm the people by saying our training is very dangerous. But please, ever since when was being in the military a safe occupation. even NS is not considered 'safe'
I really think ST should highlight we lost 2 fellow singaporeans in a tragic accident. As a nation we should grieve the lost of two fine young man who died in the line of duty.
From what i can see, up till now, they are still casting it as some 'side line' news.
Where is the compassion when all we can talk about is globalisation. The hardware and software we have. But we seriously lack the heartware.

The lives of hundreds of Taiwanese are not worth 2 Singaporeans. I respect the pilots for doing their best to avoid even more casualties but cannot say the same for the Taiwanese public and media.

taiwan will be giving the families of the two pilots at least a sum of NT $15 million (which is around S$0.75 million) initially. Think they will give more later on.. dunno will they compensate the two singapore's soldier's families?
