Why should there be a double standard between BMT units and active units when it comes to SOC? For the guys who have done SOC before, you do realise that obstacle course alone without the distance to run amounts to little. When you get to an active unit, you are supposed to be armed with a set of individual skills and confidence, the stuff needed to further your training and coordination so that you may fight as a team (and this applies to sniper platoons as well), and surely wasting all that time in an active unit training for SOC should be avoided.Originally posted by Chemineer72:This 50 m SOC is only implemented during BMT time?
How about the SOC program for SISPEC, OCS, and active units? How about for 1st Cdo Bn?
If it is only for BMT, and it will not degrade the physical fitness status of SAF active units.
The overall fighting fitness of the SAF will depends largely on training in the active units, not for BMT recruits.
AOC no running one lah....Originally posted by Chemineer72:It might be for the idea of 'progressive training' that SOC program is different for BMTC and active units. I do understand that there is a more 'advanced' form of SOC called AOC which is not available for most units. I would think the rationale comes from the idea of having BTP and then ATP, and, similarly, section live firing follows by platoon live firing and then company live firing.
In any case, change of training regime is the perrogative of training branch of the General Staff.
