  Curious...Uncle Teo said $50 increase/mth yes? So tt means...if a recruit enlists in say July, he will get $350, in Aug, he gets $400, Sept. $450 and so on?

  Recruits and trainees (PTEs, at least) do not receive combat allowance AFAIK.
  
  The $450 allowance for REC is a big hoax if you ask me, unless someone shows solid proof
  
  Anyway the most updated NS allowance scheme is this: http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/news_and_events/nr/2002/may/16may02_nr2.html.print.html?Status=1
  
  It doesn't reflect, of course, the increased allowance which will take effect in July.

  450 is the highest that a REC can earn, let's say if he's ORDed as a REC. This is what I can remember from the salary chart.
