AhJun, I believe you've admitted that you have yet to even enlist. Yet here you are ranting on and on about ill treatment in the armed forces like you were a victim of it yourself. You aren't doing justice to the thousands and thousands who have gone through two years of full time national service, sucking it up when things got tough and taking it like a man. How many recruits have you heard of who are driving past their limit and taking their own lives? On what grounds are you making your accusations of the SAF?
Tough training is good training in the military. War is not a game, and we don't want to ever be caught under prepared.
To be honest, I'm glad there aren't many like you, complaining about the tough life of the military even before experiencing it. I cannot imagine having to rely on cowardly and useless people like you to defend out sovereignty. -

Hi all,
lets give AhJun some space, whether is he enlisted or not, still proven he is still a fresh enlistee, is ok for new enlistee to ask/know/gather etc.. any info he need, we may not know maybe after he finished his vocation training, he may have a changed of view of SAF. He could be one of the TOP soldiers in SAF in future.
So if Ahjun got any doubt on SAF issue, let all the lao jiao here to give him full support info, if he still have this fear of this and that, we also cant do anything laio.

Hey TS. From your replys, I can sense a deep sense of injustice and whether or not u are enlisted, thats not a good sign. Regarding not being able to fall out, I can understand you as it is a guideline to allow soldiers to receive necessary medical care esp if they are unwell. But rules are always there as a guide and often things are done under the commanders' discretion.
Things often go wrong as afew " bad apples" may cause the superiors to have a negative look on the whole bunch thus the unfair treatment. Its saddening to say this but life is never plain sailing and its the same in the outside world. You say u r sick and see a doc; your boss thinks u r faking it and we see a same end result.
So its often the people administering the system rather then the system that is at fault. The dunking incident as u have quoted are extreme cases and isolated where power is abused. I dont think we would see this kind of accidents every other day.
To TS, I'm neither a regular or a pro-saf person that is advertising for em.
its just my personal point of view and hope that u can feel abit more positive.
Like i always say, tough training is good training. But if the line tough is blurred, stop and seek help immed. Im absolutely sure that there is someone who is willing to listen to u and do something abt it.

Let me tell my story can? I was... having the worst time in NS. Yes. Always arrowed, because some people didn't like me. And when the top brass don't like you you are in deep trouble because you complain you kena even more.
But I took it in my stride.. I was angry, and am still pretty angry at some things that happened, but I always remind myself that I am NOT serving the sergeant, encik, the officer or the general.. I am a soldier for THE COUNTRY.
Lousy leaders do not make a lousy military. The majority of the army is>>officers or privates? And no matter how lousy, unreasonable, UNFAIR the military may be, don't forget that YOU are NOT lousy, unreasonalbe or UNFAIR. You are not in the same category. You are a MODEL SOLDIER. Whatever nonsense they dish out, you TAKE. And that says alot about you. Laugh at your encik or sergeant in private, knowing that you are SUPERIOR TO HIM. His "bullying" is because he has LOW self-esteem. You have HIGH self-esteem. Why should allow yourself to get affected by such a person? You can take anything he can give!
Threadstarter, try using this mindset for one week and see if things improve ok?
Now, if you look at my rank you will faint.
(I know I posted alot of weird posts in the SAF forum asking weird questions about the GDS and CDOs. This is not because I don't know due to my rank-it is more of a "I didn't have the time to find out". I was too busy doing my job to engage in chit-chat. And I also speak Cantonese, not Hokkien, so some things are just beyond my language scope.) -

n oso... i didnt noe if u recourse bmt need to serve for 4 yrs.

If you are really in such a bad state give me you unit and I will ask my friend to take a look at your situation. I don't believe that there change parades are still conducted. If anyone orders you to do an unreasonable task ONCE, just swallow it down. If it's on a daily basis, I reiterate. all in all, does it mean that since recruits are the lowest lifeform in the army, that's y they get unreasonable treatment and whacked everyday as if they were slaves? does it mean recruits got no rights to speak up?

Firstly, I believe you have not served a day of NS. Let me know if I'm wrong.
Secondly, if there is something serious going-on, have you reported it to the relevant people? They can help you instead of your constant flaming. Please post in a considerate and neat manner so that people can understand what you are saying.
If they have replied, please do not continue to repeat your initial point. Your behavior would have gotten you banned in other military forums or suspended for infractions. We are all not here 24/7, so post wisely and take the time to read what others have to say. -
Actually, recruits are the not the lowest life-forms in the entire SAF. There's still someone called the OCT.
