yup those smart munitions.Originally posted by Shotgun:Try the new guided arty rounds. Might be able to hit the same spot twice.
with our current arty technology, I give it a high chance for that to happen.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Alright, lets say that all else remains constant in terms of the equipment, Arty caliber say 155mm, shells used is High Explosive. Read that the "effective" blast is approx. 100m, so lets say that 2 salvos of 4 rounds from 4 guns are fired, is there a high chance for the rounds to all land within the same area? Given that a competent FO is tasked to watch the fall of the rounds?
Yeah, not enlisted yet. Just very into military stuff and read about them whenever I can. Used to be into modern day warfare, but a good friend introduced me to Clausewitz,Napoleonic wars and ancient warfare and how it affects the modern day. Btw...Kings of the Battlefield is a book?Originally posted by sir sickolot II:TS not in army yet right? Must say it's quite a detailed arty description. Perhaps you're interested in the Kings of the Battlefield?

Yeah, that would be a good size, 100m by 100m. And I forgot to add, using conventional arty rounds, (ie. dumb rounds) no guidance or whatsoever.Originally posted by I_love_my_toilet:Can
how big is ur area ? 100m X 100m ?
as said by some other forumites alot of factors affect arty bombardment.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Yeah, not enlisted yet. Just very into military stuff and read about them whenever I can. Thanks
Yep, I will keep that in mind, with my mouth shut and my eyes n mind wide open.Originally posted by sir sickolot II:An advice to TS, reading up is a good thing, but don't have such a glorified image of our Army. it's really no where what you read in books about battles and warfare.
But if there are books on technical aspects of infantry movement and what not, maybe that's good to read up.
I guess so..Originally posted by SpecOps87:Yep, I will keep that in mind, with my mouth shut and my eyes n mind wide open.
Back to the topic, I suppose the common consensus is that it is possible to have a repeat strike within the same area.
Possible. Just highly improbable.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Yep, I will keep that in mind, with my mouth shut and my eyes n mind wide open.

You like arty? Btw, if I gather ur nick right, u are born in 1987? Enlisting soon?
What use is there of arty if it can hit the same target area? ( of course I don't mean pin point precision)Originally posted by SpecOps87:Nxt yr, aft I complete Poly den enlist, nw still guai guai schooling.
Not really into Arty as I don't really have a gd understanding of how they work. More into Air Assault Infantry and AI.
Well, I was referring to not really pin point precision, but more or less say 20m or so from the impact of the first salvo.Originally posted by sir sickolot II:What use is there of arty if it can hit the same target area? ( of course I don't mean pin point precision)
Once the initial volley is corrected by the FO, it should be bombs away.
Assuming Air Assualt Infantry means Guards in SG context....
You have a unique interest in the vocation(s) people tend to avoid.
Cool. Remember to mention that to ur PC during ur PC interview at BMT. Ask him to reccomend you to the above formation and vocations. Best if you can make it to SISPEC and then head over from there. Better chance.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Well, I was referring to not really pin point precision, but more or less say 20m or so from the impact of the first salvo.
Yeah, Air Assault refers to the Guards in SG context. Haha, thats what my friends already serving tell me. Its their deployment method and tactics which fascinate me, same as that of the AI.
O'well...see how it goes yeah. Anyway, just curious is the SISPEC first before OCS scheme still current?Originally posted by Shotgun:Cool.
