Think SAF is clamping down hard on defaulters who failed to report when they went out of country without informing...
During the last ICT, 16 men and officers were given Summary Trials for not informing unit while overseas and got one LTA kena fined $300 for non-compliance of regulations...
Now with the interface between MINDEF and ICA, it's snap of the fingers for MINDEF to monitor those going out and not informing... -

Overseas Trip Notification
All NSmen below the age of 50 for Officers and 40 for Warrant Officers, Specialists, Other Ranks and Enlistees who are leaving the country for more than 24 hours but less than 6 months are required to notify MINDEF Notification Centre (MNC) / Overseas Notification Centre (ONC) via Notification of Overseas Trips of their country of destination and a contact telephone or a fax number (can be local or overseas) at which they can be contacted or where information of their overseas whereabouts can be obtained during their absence. NSmen with valid Exit Permit and those disrupted need not inform of their overseas trips of more than 24 hours but less than 6 months
With effect from 01 Aug 06, based on recommendation by the Fourth Committee to Recognise the Contribution of Operationally-Ready NSmen to Total Defence (RECORD IV), NSmen who have completed their ORNS Training Cycle and phased into MINDEF Reserve (MR) / SPF or SCDF Reserve are no longer required to notify their overseas trips of less than 6 months. However, they are still required to apply for an Exit Permit for overseas trip duration of 6 months or more. -

As long as more than 24 hours must apply.
I got the reminder after I went on a 3 day trip and didn't apply for one. Luckily no fine. -

Going overseas for short trip requires only a notification. very simple, email, Sms, or fax.
For first offender, please go ahead and appeal, and promise that it will not happen again. Why waste another $100 ? I would rather do clubbing. -

That is why I have long given up on NS....have done my NS many donkey years ago and now am officially out of this country, no more a citizen, so can collect all my CPF...

if going overseas for less than 6 mths NO NEED exit permit BUT NEED to inform mindef that u r going overseas.

confirmed with my NS sect also, must appy notificationf short trip for more than 24 hours, exit permit for more than 6 months. even myself have to do it

I move in and out of Singapore frequently. Most times remember to notify, but a few times genuinely forget. Hopefully, they don't catch me.
Last time, there are big signboards at Airport, but those seems to have disappeared or maybe not so obvious now.
Last time also got stickers on MINDEF Notification Centre to stick on the passport. After I change my passport, cannot find the stickers, so tend to forget.
