hello. my first psot here.
just want to seek some opinion here. i going jcc next week. have to buy a lot things like hammock, jungle hat etc etc...
i have been boycotting the army market cuz i dun like it that they are selling SAF stuffs... i dun like the dubious way they obtain them(i think)... but now seem like no choice.. juz want to find out, as compared to emart n d n G, is it marked up or down? muz negotiate every price they quote? compare prices? and what is the opening hours like? any honest shops to recommend?
next 3 weeks will be damn tough man... any advice on jcc? heard juz revised and new sylybas and new grounds....

Think the prices are about the same. You prepare a shopping list. Go to any shop and ask them to quote you. Then ask for a discount. If you don't like what they quote then just move ahead to the next one. Just try to get everything from one shop, it's easier and maybe slightly cheaper.

the last time i went there, had a bad experience at one of the shop. service was very bad. left a bad impression.

Just to let you know...
only minority of the things they sell are dubiously obtained.
Things which are issued to you but yet unavailable at E-mart and yet still available in Army Market is most probably dubiously obtained.
Such are...
a) Original SBOs (not D&G), i mean the original with SSN and all.
b) Ballastic Helmet (illegal to actually sell them)
c) Original No 4
d) Orginal Gore-tex jacket
e) original SAR 21 chamber brush
f) original cartridge pouch
g) Nomex suits (i'd be surprised if they are actually sold)
h) Wire gloves
i) Francis Barker and Sons M79 Compass (if they sell it under $400, it's most probably stolen) -
last time they used to sell the washer for M16S1...some are fakes.

There was once i was shock to see one of the army shops at army market sell things like 7.62mm GPMG ammo metal case!!!

Some of these washer does not serve its purpose and it is actually a danger to the rifle user. -

2 weeks back just b4 the CNY I went to beach rd army market. A shop ( facing the cc right in front of you and post office on your right about 1 o'clock position. Selling SAF helmets and other 'sensitive' items openly.

find closely and we can even find exact SAF insect repellents with "property of saf", the exact SAF cylume sticks etc... if these are not smuggled out by store personnel, where they get them from? even if the manufacturer sold to the shopkeepers, they would omit the "property of saf".... so they juz act as middlemen.... buying from people who happened to have these expandable items at their disposal and sell to anyone who might wants them, saf personnels or not.... anyone got any tips for JCC course... i searched thru the forum only can find very old threads... thanks.

It is not smuggled by store personnel.
People at army market are subjected to random checks and need to show justification how they got their stock.
More often than not, it is usually old stocks or rejected stock.
That's why when you go Army market, their stuff is generally older like older packaging, etc etc. -
why would anyone wanna buy them when u have got e mart credits? (nsf n nsmen)...
unless u r ncc cadet la. -
yeah, I heard about this kind of surplus or reject stocks.
if the camou uniform is rejected and returned to supplier, I guess it would finally end up at Beach Road or Chatuchak.
when a storeman discovers that there is a carton of unaccounted insect repellant, what do you think he can do with them ?
well, who buys them ? I know construction workers can use these cheap rejected uniforms. campers can buy insect repellants.
if the Army does not want these rejects to appear in the market, then they should destroy the rejects or excesses. if instead they return to the supplier, this is the clearest signal to the supplier to resell them elsewhere.
eventually, some will still end up with NSman.
