To relate, I got through the customs with a passport with less than 6 months' validity. The Singapore Immigration did not see it, but the Malaysian Immigration was sharper. I apologise, called him 'Abang' and say 'I will not do it again'. I got in and came out. Sometimes, I find the Malaysians more forgiving and practical. He can see from my passport that I frequented Malaysia, and his practical sense told him that I would return back to Singapore before my passport expires. What would the Singapore Immigration say ? So, what's wrong with tipping him for his good service and senses. -
Will Singapore do an "Israel" on them?

Why you guys keep saying what the law is unfair for the guy to go jail and the girl to just get a fine.
I will say LUCKY! If my GF going to Malaysia Jail, WTF will happen to her. If guy in jail, at most kanna beat and fuck backside. If girl how, So ... its lucky for the girl to get a fine. (if i am the guy, i will be saying to god, ty)

Which is why I'm the anal one when we drive in with friends. I insist on them stopping after the checkpoints and for them to go through their passports properly. I tell you, driving into MY is like organising a little resupply convoy. With clear duties and people.

i don't think just because of this issue we should stop going to M'sia.
or at least most people won't give a dam and still go.
The point is to be vigilant and well, be safe rather than sorry. After all, if a M'sian entered Singapore illegally we would have done the same thing, whether his story was convincing or not, esp with tight sg laws.
No physical proof, means... no physcial proof of entry. haha
I do wonder about the M'sian jails... like how different is it from SG jails and what is the 'climate' like in there... not saying that i wanna try to end up there la

I always avoid the Woodlands checkpoint. 2nd Link is far better in their handling of stuff etc.

you're a little too quick to judge the guy. if you enter malaysia on a frequent basis, there are many incidents where your passports do not get chopped, or there is no one at the counter. and it has always been 'okay' to just go straight through, if you know how the malaysian system works.Originally posted by scabstermooch:Precisely. if the counter has no one there...shouldn't they close block that way with a gate or something?

Many Years ago when I was using a Singapore Passport Ive had the pages torn by Immigrasi Indonesia ,not chop a few times by Imigresen Malaysia & even overstayed in Thailand for 10 days.At the very most just pay money or say sorry except for the indonesian case where my Passport was vandalized by an officer becuase I refused to give Ang Pow on Chinese New Year.This story about going to jail is pretty scary man!!maybe more scary than Malaysians paying a fine,going to jail & getting caned!

Not at all. IMO, people here are too quick to believe him. It is never OK to just enter a country without getting permission to enter. It is called illegal immigration. It is not as if the customs official took his passport and did not stamp it. The situation is that he did not give his passport to any customs official. He is therefore either very naive, very reckless or very guilty. On all counts, he should be punished as a reminder to him. Perhaps the punishment is a little too harsh but it is their country and they are allowed to make their own laws. -

This case,it's the person's fault not to check his passport not being chopped.
Oh well malaysia want makan our money only..After makan,put inside pocket then keep it.Not using to develope big longkangs all like in JB there's flooded.Somemore,singapore media make us scary go JB already.Tends there's shoptliffting etc even murder cases and lastly flood cases.This has to stop man. -
